Harley trudged down the paved Gotham path. The depressing weather causing more pain on her raw bruises as she wrapped her arms around her stomach in an attempt to protect her from the numbing air of Gotham. The sky was dark, but the stars were hidden behind a screen of grey clouds. The rain poured down on her shoulders, drenching her knotted hair and soaking through her tight, skimpy red dress.

Tonight at the House of Fun hadn't gone to plan, and the Joker was not in a good mood at all. The club was making half the profits it usually does in a week, and lets just say Harley received the damage. She was the Jokers personal punching bag. If he was angry after a late night she got beat until she didn't have any feeling in her limbs. Sometimes even best unconscious if he was in a really bad mood. He had no mercy in that state, and had no emotions. Like a monster from a nightmare. Completely unpredictable.

Harley had fled from him tonight. The fear of another beating had become too much. They were getting worse each day, and she was worried he would completely lose it and decide to end her life. She knew he was crazy, but after seeing him like that for the first time in her life, that just petrified her. How could he be so dark and cruel, yet so romantic and caring at the same time? It just didn't make sense, and now here she was. Walking down the silent concrete at 3 am. No soul in sight as she kept her head high and her feet straight. She was not going back to him.

"I don't understand why we have to patrol at this time," Grumbled an irritated Damian Wayne as the Batmobile drove past a number of red brick flats and small corner shops. "There hasn't been any crime around here in weeks." He continued, sighing as he stared out the tinted windows, the raindrops sliding down the glass.

"Gotham is always unpredictable." Batman answered the teen as he kept a tight hold on the wheel. The large lights lit up the entire road, guiding the path for the matte black, armoured vehicle.

Suddenly Robin spotted a small figure walking along the concrete up ahead. He jumped up in his seat, pointing frantically at the person. "I-Is that Quinn?" He questioned as the car rolled to a stop beside the mysterious person.

Batman rolled the window down, examining her features, and accepting that it was indeed Harley Quinn. "Quinn." He spoke with a cold tone.

Harley looked over her shoulder, but huffed in response and kept walking down the path. "Go away Batsy. I don't want a fight tonight." She muttered, heels clicking along the ground.

"Why are you out here on your own?" Asked Damian, confused at the time of night she chose to have a stroll.

"None of your bees-wax birdboy!" She yelled glaring at him as the car rolled beside her.

Then he noticed the dark bruises that were sitting uncovered around her body. He gave Batman a concerned look before speaking again. "Get in the car Quinn."

Harley stuck up a finger at him and kept walking, her parents always told her she was stubborn.

Batman pulled in front of her while Robin leaped out the window and tackled her into his arms in the blink of an eye. "Come on, its too cold out here." He smirked, lifting her into the small car, despite her attempts at escaping.
