Troian felt sweat on the back of her neck. She was ready to do a face off. She put her stick next to the opposing player, a blonde with a pointy chin, who was from Pritchard Prep. Game on. Troian smacked her stick so forcefully, the girl leapt out of the way, and Troian dribbled it toward the goal. Now she needed to get past the defense. Both girls were hovering near Troian, waiting for her to strike. Instead, she hit the ball to Kristen, one of her teammates. Kristen dribbled it toward the net. Smack. She scored a goal. All the Rosewood High fans cheered.

Before the next play started, Troian looked out at the crowd. She saw her parents; Spencer and Chase. And then, in the next seat over, she saw Torrey. What was she doing here? Torrey never watched Troian's field hockey games. She always purposefully made plans during them. It was unlikely she was here for moral support; the sisters mixed together like oil and water. She was probably here to critique Troian, and brag about how she was a much better player. Troian turned her back to the audience. She was going to play hard, and be a better field hockey player then Torrey had ever been. Now she was playing left wing. Kristen was doing a face off with a pretty brunette. The play started, and the girl from Pritchard managed to pass it to the right wing. Josie, Troian's old friend, passed the ball to her. It was Troian's turn to act. She dribbled the ball toward the opposite side of the field. A girl on defense tried to steal the ball, but Troian swerved her. She made a beeline for the goalie, then shot the ball straight in. Bingo.

"Nice play, Troy," Mr. McCaffers, her field hockey coach congratulated her. "You look promising out on the field, even better than your sister ever was."

"Thanks," Troian told him. She glanced at Torrey, but she seemed deeply into something on her phone. If only she'd heard what Mr. McCaffers just said. Troian could just imagine what she would say to her. Take that bitch.
