The Golden Chain

Ashley pulled into the dark, dank alley. She had to do this. Taking a deep breathe, she opened her car door, and instantly wished she hadn't. Almost immediately, the smell of rotten banana peels, and spoiled almost knocked her out. But she knew she had to do this. For Troian and Lucy's sake. That text still haunted her. After receiving it, she had been so scared, she threw her phone into the back seat. She heard texts come in, surely her friends were asking where she was. But she ignored them. She couldn't let them know where she was. She had to do this. Alone.

She carried out the antique necklace her mother had given her that had been passed down for millions of generations, and held it out in her hand, feeling the designs in her hand for the last time. She felt all the loops and swirls, and just felt like crying inside. But she had to muster up the courage and do this. It was either this necklace or her friends' lives. She read the text again. "Leave that precious family heirloom in lot 27, or Lucy and Troian won't see tomorrow morning- A"

Slowly, she walked deeper into the alley. The stank got worst, and Ashley held her hair up to her nose. She found an old, broken, mahogany table, and placed the necklace on it. Footsteps emerged. Ashley turned, all senses on red alert. A was here. Maybe she could figure out their secret identity. She crept into the shadows and watched. Nothing. Just silence. After a few minutes though, she came back into the light. This was too dangerous. She got back into her car, and was about to drive off. Hmm, she thought. Maybe I'll go back and check if the necklace is still there. Slowly, she crept out and went back to the mahogany table. The necklace was gone. A was here. Ashley was about to walk back to her car, when she heard a thud. She turned, and saw a fridge had toppled down from a large pile of garbage. It opened, and somebody stepped out. The person was dressed in all black, with a golden chain of a necklace hanging out of it's side pocket. Ashley had no doubt in her mind, that it was A. The person saw her, and Ashley ran back to her car. Was the person chasing her? She didn't look to find out. Ashley just bolted, and ran into her car. She pulled on the door, but it was locked. She pulled out her keys and pressed a button. The car chirped, and then unlocked. Ashley drove away. After a few miles, she let out a breath of relief. She was safe from A. At least for now. But no one could predict the future, and Ashley feared what kind of bad stuff it may hold.
