"WE'RE GOING TO DIE!!!" Life screamed from the passenger seat.

"Calm down, were going to be fine.  Its just a little rain." I gritted my teeth and continued driving through the pouring rain and pooling water.

Life whimpered, "I'm terrified of rain."

My eyebrows furrowed, "I thought it was just lightning and thunder?"

Life hunkered down in the seat, "Sometimes its rain too.  Now is one of those times."

"You're literally the son of Mother Nature."

I saw Life looking at me out of the corner of my eye.

I sighed, "That alone would terrify me."

Lightning just so happened to strike at that moment and Life squeaked.

"Sorry sorry, I didn't meant it." The less mad I can keep Mother Nature right now the less terrified I can keep Life.

"You probably think I'm a wuss." Life mumbled out.

"I don't think you're a wuss." I breathed out.  We were almost home.

"Yeah you do." Life took to the fetal position.

"No I don't.  Everyone has fears, even me."

Life looked at me, "You do?"

"Yeah, I'm terrified of what's in the dark.  My mind plays tricks on me and everything."

"That doesn't count.  Everyone's afraid of the dark."

"Im not afraid of the dark, I'm afraid of what's in the dark."

"Same thing."

"Okay then," I take a deep breathe,"I'm terrified of love."

I pull in the driveway, parking the car.

"You are?" Life uncurled a little.

"Yeah, I am."

"That's like being afraid of the rain, isn't it?"

"Uh huh."

"So I'm not a wuss?"

"Correct."

"I'm manly."

"Yeppers."

Thunder cracked.

"Do you want me to carry you inside?" I ask Life.

"Yes please." He squeaked, already crawling over the console to me.

That night I comforted Life under a stack of blankets and finally coaxed him asleep to the sound of pouring rain.
