From a very young age you've always been taught that everything has to be achieved, things weren't free, emotions of joy, basic needs, freedom...even something as important as love, everything must be achieved and deserved.
Despite the relentless nagging from your step mother, you were now at an age where you began to ignore these...values, if you can even call them that. You were no longer a child who had to do as their parents say.
After all, if these so called morals were true, why is it that you are feeling the forbidden feeling of slight joy right now?
Perhaps it had to do with the fact that Namjoon had decided to come sit next to you of all people in the class today. As he came waltzing next to you, he smiled his smile as he always does, his voice deep snd rich, "hey, (y/n), you don't mind if I sit next to you do you?", it took you by surprise at first, but you happily let the male take a seat next to you, "of course".
"God, it's freezing out today", he chuckled, placing his books and pens on the desk. Throughout the lecture, you both made small conversation here and there, speaking about each other intrests, you spoke briefly with what you had planned to do after graduation, he spoke about his plans to though he mostly spoke about all the troubles his sis group of friends constantly caused him. You didn't mind at all, matter of fact, you enjoyed hearing about them quite a bit. They sounded like a very entertaining bunch.
"Alright class, for this semester, I want you all to work in partners for this project, please can you decide who you'd like to work with by the end of this class, the project with be due in about a week, the detail of the project will all be up on your google classroom by the end of the day", your professor spoke.
The whole class instantly began to quietly cheer to themselves and smile towards their friends. A partnered project was always fun to do, that is if you had friends...which you did not. You turned to Namjoon "so, do you have anyone you'd like to partner up with?", the male looked around the room and chuckled "I actually...don't know many people in the class haha". His words were quite shocking to you, being the popular person he was, you were sure he knew a handful of people here and there...was he lying? Namjoon was nitrous for being that one person who got along with everyone, all of campus knew his name, even the professors were a fan of him, he was usually on top of almost everyone's list when it came to group projects and what not.
How odd.
. Namjoon, signed, scratching his head for a while as if he was thinking of something, "hey, it seems like everyone here has a partner except for you and me, uhm, do you just wanna partner up?"
Though you felt a bit hesitant at first, you accepted his offer, it's not like you had anyone els to turn to anyways, "sure!" you nodded your head, "I'd love to work with you". Namjoon placed his hand on his chest, as though he felt very reliefed, "that's great, man I hope the project isn't something insane, god I swear this teacher expects way too much from us", you couldn't help but giggle at his comment, "yeah hopefully".
Time went quick, thanks to Namjoon's company and before you knew it, class had already ended. As you were packing all your things aways, Namjoon passed you his phone, "This is my number by the way, I thought we should stay in contact ya know, especially with this group project and all", you pulled out your phone and quickly typed his number down and saved it, "yeah, definitely, they would be helpful". Namjoon tucked his seat in, "that's great, I'll message you about the project later then if that okay with you?", you nodded your head a fuzzy feeling growing inside your chest "sure"
Namjoon turned to leave, "well, I'll talk to you later than Miss (l/n), bye!"
"Bye"
