Taehyung's pov
"Tae......we need to talk."
Fuck. What did I do this time?
I look up from the paper that I had been doing for math, my eyes widening when I see that it's Rain who's standing in front of me. She doesn't meet my gaze as I stand up from my seat, her eyes on the ground as she starts to walk away. I follow her, growing more and more nervous the farther away we go.
"Is something wrong?" I ask, speeding up so that I can walk next to her. She doesn't look at me as she reaches down, her fingers trailing down my arm and wrist before intertwining with mine. I can't help but sigh in relief, happy about the contact. This means that she probably isn't pulling me aside so that she can break up with me, but I still want to know what she needs to talk about.
I had stayed after school today so that I could work on my math homework, so the hallways are pretty empty right now. I had been under the impression that Rain had already gone home, but I guess I was wrong. We are silent as she leads us out the doors of the gym before taking me along the side of the track, heading towards a seating area that is currently unoccupied.
The wind blows her hair out of her face as she takes a seat, the sounds of the whistle blowing and people practicing for football sounding in my ears. I just watch the side of her face as she bites her lip, seemingly deep in thought. My thumb rubs calming circles on the back of her hand as I wait for her to start talking, subconsciously leaning forward when she finally opens her mouth.
"Tae.....Yoongi came to talk to me about ten minutes ago."
My eyes widen at the news. I can't help but get angry at the mention of his name, memories of her telling me about the guy who cheated on her flashing through my mind.
"Yeah? And what did he say?" I ask cautiously, turning in my seat so that I have a better view of her face.
"He came to apologize to me. He said that he knows that he hurt me, and explained exactly why he did it, but that's not why I'm telling you this."
She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear before looking at me, her eyes finally meeting mine.
"I know you don't like him for what he did, but he.....he had his reasons. I want to forgive him Tae. I want him to be apart of my life again. He told me that all he wanted was his best friend back, and that's all I want as well."
"No." I find myself slowly shaking my head, my pulse skyrocketing. "There is no way he is coming back into your life after what he did Rain."
I know I screwed up by the anger filling her eyes. She grinds her teeth as she stands up, ripping her hand out of mine.
"You can't tell me what to do. We may be dating, but only I can have a say in who's in my life and who's not."
She starts to walk away but I get up and grab onto her wrist, turning her around to face me. She still looks angry as I pull her closer to me, pulling her into a hug.
"I know, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I'm just scared that he will hurt you again."
I can feel her relax in my hold, her arms wrapping around my waist.
"I know, I am too, but I have to give him a chance."
I sigh, kissing her forehead before pulling away to look at her.
"Ok. But he is your friend, not mine. I can't forgive him for what he did to you. I love you too much to simply forget that ever happened."
I watch as she shakes her head and smiles, standing on her tiptoes to softly kiss my cheek.
"I love you too."
