Rain's pov
"W-where did you f-find that?" I ask softly, my voice breaking in certain parts of the sentence. My eyes are locked on the small, delicate picture frame that Taehyung's mom has in her hands, my footsteps muffled by the carpet.
"Is your name, Rain?" Mr. Kim asks slowly, his eyes seeming to burn holes through me. I gulp as I nod slowly, unsure of what to do in this situation. They found the picture that Taehyung left behind. Jungkook took it away from me after the first year that Taehyung left, saying that he was going to hide it for my own good. I can't help but stare at our faces that appear so much younger than we are now, wondering how our lives changed so drastically.
"So you're the girl Taehyung wouldn't shut up about" Mrs. Kim says with a reminiscent smile on her slightly-wrinkling face, glancing down at the picture before looking back up at me. "From the way he used to describe you, someone would have thought that you were his queen or something."
I sink slowly into the seat situated across from where they are sitting, my eyes wide as I stare at the couple.
"T-Tae told you about me?"
I watch as their smiles fade, them obviously thinking about the past. Mr. Kim nods before saying, "you were all he would ever talk about after we made him leave this town. He would stay up until he thought that we were asleep and cry until he couldn't talk the next day. I don't think he ever forgave us for forcing him to leave you."
"Then why did you make him go?" The harshness of my tone surprises me, but I don't apologize. My eyebrows are furrowed in frustration as I glare at the two people who claim to be Taehyung's parents, distaste surging in me. If they really loved him, how could they force him to do something that he obviously didn't want to do? I used to think that Taehyung moved so that he could get away from all of us here. Now I know the truth, and I'm really upset.
"Watch your tone with me girl" Mr. Kim says as he places the picture down on the couch beside him. "We have the right to make him do anything. We are his parents after all."
"But that doesn't make any sense! Shouldn't he have a say in what he does with his life? He didn't want to leave, and you should've understood that."
Tae's mom looks between the two of us as we argue back and forth, her mouth turned down in a frown. I don't want to have to argue with elders like this, but it isn't right. It isn't fair to Taeyhyung that they used the elder card on him either. It is a sign of huge disrespect if you go against what your elders tell you to do, and they have been using that as an excuse this whole time.
"He is an important part in my company. We need him to do what is right for this family."
"I get that, but what about him? What if he doesn't want to run your company? What if he wants to stay here with us?"
I glance at Mrs. Kim, but the look she is giving me makes me pause. She leans forward as she studies me, her eyes searching my face.
"You still love him........don't you?"
"W-what?" I can't help but stutter as she continues to stare at me, her eyes never once leaving my face. I don't love Taehyung, I can't. I refuse to love him, because that would just break my heart all over again.
"Do you have a boyfriend, Rain?" she asks suddenly, catching me off guard. I slowly shake my head no, the tingling pain I get whenever I think about Hobi hitting my chest again.
"It's sad, really" she continues, her eyes trailing up and down my body before stopping on my stomach. My arms reflexively cover the baby bump that is beginning to be more and more apparent, suddenly self-conscious under her gaze.
"It turns out that Taehyung's ex girlfriend, who he claimed he loved so much, isn't as great as we imagined she would be. With child, without a husband or a boyfriend?" I flinch as she clicks her tongue in obvious distaste, no longer able to look her in the eye.
We all jump when a loud scoff interrupts the tense atmosphere, all of us turning to look at Taehyung as he stalks into the room. How long has he been standing there? Long enough, it seems. He looks absolutely livid with anger as he strides into the living room from where he was standing by the front door, her eyes hard as he glares heatedly at his parents.
"You two need to come with me before you say anything else that could piss me off."
