Aki's POV
I get up from my desk, still sore all over, and limp to the coffee room.
Being a detective is one of the best things to happen to me. Before I met Kyo, I didn't even have a passion for investigation. I had a passion for cooking. I lied to him all those years ago, just to keep him. I still kick myself for it, but at the same time, I just saved the country.
I reflect on how we met.
Year: 1984
"I don't like this school," I said to myself. I liked the other school better. The only reason I didn't like this school was because how small it was. I wanted a big school, and I couldn't have that here. The other school, however, was pretty big. I like to navigate, and so a big school with twisty halls is for me.
I took my name off the list for this school, and signed up for the other.
The other school also promised that they'd get me a culinary scholarship. I had impressed them with my cooking, and they decided that if I fit the bill, they'd give me a scholarship to any school I wanted.
Fast Forward One Week
I walked down the sidewalk, excited about my new school, almost skipping the whole way. I remember seeing Neko all the time in my city. But there was this one that approached me.
We hit it off, and I asked him about his aspirations, and he told me detective. I couldn't accept not being able to relate, so I'd lied and said I wanted to be a detective as well. I didn't expect our relationship to last, but soon, we were going to college together.
I was crushed. To be with him, I changed my whole life. I turned away what I loved, and majored in something I thought was lame.
Present day
Well, I can't change the past. And besides, it was for the better.
I look into the coffee room, and can't believe my eyes.
Daisuke Kando was inside, making a cup of coffee. He looked my way, and I quickly dove out of sight. I heard him mumble something about seeing something there. I quickly limped back to my desk. I see a cup of coffe labeled 'Aki', written in Kyo's handwriting. I smile. He left me coffee. I drink it, and it tastes funny. I get up, and start going towards the lounge, and Kando is there.
"Hello. Feeling okay?" he asks. "Yes," I reply smugly.
"Well, you shouldn't, since I spiked your coffee," he laughs. All of a sudden, I feel sick to my stomach, not because of the poison, but because I know for a fact now that I'm going to die. I start to black out, and eventually flump on the ground, presumably dead. As Kando drags me away to a hospital, I open my eyes. I look up at him, and smile.
End.
