Chapter 14: Confused Intentions

When we arrived at my place, as I expected my parents were still missing. I told Arianne to wait and I particularly run on the phone and called my mother’s number. She replied immediately
-Luce? Is that you? She asked her voice trembling and even though she wasn’t here I could imagine how the look on her face was. Fear and agony

-Yes mom it’s me. Now she must looked relieved. I heard her taking a deep breath.

-Where were you? I tried to call you like…like a billion times!

-Mom I know. I’m fine just… I glanced sideways at Arianne

-A friend of mine had a problem and… I was trying to help her and I spent the nights there. There was a long pause before she answered.

-Are you telling me the truth? This hasn’t anything to do with Daniel? I exchange in relief that her mind wonder to Daniel

-No I swear. How is grandpa? I asked changing the subject

-Better but your father and I are still needed here until they get him out of the hospital the next 2 days. Will you be okay?

-Yes. I assured her

-If you want I could-

-No. I’ll be fine. I interrupted her.

-Okay. See you then. Be careful honey.

-I will. I promised and hang up.

 I walked back to the couch and sit next to Arianne closing my eyes.
-Luce….Are you okay? I opened them up and gaze at her concerned look.

-I….he didn’t hurt me. Only once he tried to…to strangle me. He said he was waiting for Lucifer to tell him when to kill me, He even saved me once when I tried to escape. I said.
 
Of course I wasn’t going to tell her about all the kisses and the only time he almost opened his heart to me. Nor how I end up there after I slept with him. She shook her head showing me she understand.

-I found you on time then. She reached to me and patted my shoulder as she fixed her eyes on mine.

-I don’t understand though. Usually Lucifer leaves his dirty little business to others like Cam.  She shrugged

-Cam said he wanted to see me or something like that. I replied. She took a deep concerned breath and met my eyes again.

-Luce was that all? He didn’t do anything else? She asked

-No.

-Okay… And what did you mean ‘’he saved you’’?

-I tried to escape and I kind of met a wolf. Cam found me and saved me just when the wolf was about to jump on me. I explained.

-Oh I see, he just wanted to have the pleasure to kill you himself. Anyway now we have to be careful. You will be under the radar 24\7. She said

-We?

-Yes. Gabbe is an angel too. I looked at her in astonishment.

-I didn’t see that coming. I admitted letting it sink in.

-Yeah…anyway you need some rest don’t you? You were with him 3 nights in a row I doubt how much sleep you managed to get.

I just nodded in reply although that was a lie. I slept and pretty good to speak the truth but I knew I shouldn’t tell her and I shouldn’t be thinking of it either. I had to remember that Cam was the enemy and the one who wanted to kill me.

-Yeah…I’ll be okay. I assured her.

-Em no…I’m staying. You go for sleep and I’ll stay. Cam knows where you live and he’ll definitely come looking for you. I wont leave you Luce. No way.

Ok now I get why she was so over protective with me near Cam, and it wasn’t a bad idea at all for her to stay here.

-Okay then. Just let me call- We both jumped at the knot on the door. We gaze at each other and she start walking hesitantly to the door with me following her. Her hand wrapped the knob as she took a deep breath before she opened up.

-Oh you’re Da- She asked

-I..Luce! When Daniel saw me he run to me and closed me in his embrace. Instead of feeling safe I felt guilty. 

In a flash all the kisses with Cam came rushing back and my heart start pounding hard in my chest. He then start soothing back my hair while at the same time he kissed me on my head.

-It’s okay. He said before he asked me anything. It was a thing about him I loved. He never insisted on something and he never pushed me into do or tell things I didn’t. Eventually I pulled back and stare into his eyes.

-What happened? He asked as he gently took a black errant lock of my hair, tucking it behind me ear. I looked at Arianne who shook her head in disagreement.  I decided not to tell him anything for now but of course I couldn’t hold a secret all of this. Daniel was my boyfriend and we shared things with each other we didn’t keep it and I wasn’t about to start too. But now as Arianne said I needed some rest.

-Dosen’t matter. I’m fine okay? You don’t have to worry about anything. I assured him as I lift my hand to his cheek. His closed his eyes for a few seconds and when he opened them again he gave me a little smile.

-Okay you’ll talk to me when you’re ready but, tonight I’m not leaving you.

 Half an hour later I’ve prepared my parents room for Arianne and I was lying finally on my very own bed in Daniel’s arms while he was playing with my hair.

-Are you sure you’re okay? He asked me for the 6th time. I laughed and tangled my finger with his, I gave a small squeeze on his hand and turned so I could see him.

-Now that you’re here everything is fine.He captured my face between his hands and brought his lips on mine. It was a small, soft kiss unlike Cam’s fierce kisses. Cam… why was I thinking about him when Daniel was kissing me? I forgot it and let myself gave in to his kiss. When he let me go I layed back to his chest and brought the blanket closer. Now that Daniel was here and Arianne was on the next room I felt safer than ever. Cam couldn’t hurt me now. He kissed my forehead again

-Goodnight princesses. He whispered

-Goodnight. I shut my eyes and drifted to sleep within seconds.

 The next day I woke up in his arms, the most beautiful sensation I’ve felt in days. He slowly opened up his own eyes and met my gaze as he hold back a yawn. I laughed but before I could say anything he pulled me close and kissed my nose. Then he continue to my lips but he stopped right before he kiss them. He met my gaze and then looked at my lips. This move of his always made my body shivered from agony and nervousness and he knew that but he did it on purpose. His lips curled up in a small smile but he finally did kiss me.

 And then the door opened and Arianne got in.

-Goodmorn-oh sorry! She said biting her lower lip. Daniel and I both laughed and I rose on my feet

-It’s okay Arianne don’t worry. I looked at Daniel

-Breakfast? I suggested. As an answer Daniel got up and Arianne walked out of my room and toward the kitchen.
