"ZINN!" My heart drops. "ZINNIA!" Marah screams from downstairs.
Jaley and I almost break our necks rushing down the stairs to get to her. "WHAT'S WRONG?" I yell. Before I could gather my thoughts, Jaley plows into my back and her and I both fly across the room.
"That was unnecessary." Marah says, standing next to Lucky with her arms folded. He was holding a bouquet of white and orange flowers.
"Are you okay, hon?" Lucky grabs my hand and lifts me to my feet.
"Wow." I say looking at him. "You look really good."
He blushes. "I know."
"Well." Jaley says getting up off the ground. "Hi, Lucky, great to see you."
"Hey, Jaley." He laughs.
She puts her hands in her pockets and awkwardly stares at us. "I'm gonna go read." She smiles, then grabs Marah by her hand and forces her upstairs with her, even though she didn't want to go. I'm more than sure she has a crush on Lucky. But honestly, who wouldn't?
"Oh, I got these for you." Lucky hands me the flowers. "I figured I would reverse it and get you my favorite kind of flowers instead of yours." He grins.
"What kind of flowers are these?" I ask.
He looks at me funny. "You don't know your own flower?"
"Oh!" I say. "These are zinnia flowers?"
He laughs. "Yeah. Nurse Dove told me about this flower shop in some land that has a weird name that I don't remember. I told them I was buying flowers for the Queen and they all freaked out and started asking questions about you."
"Well, they're beautiful. Thank you."
"You're welcome. Your mom knew what she was doing naming you after this flower."
"Why is that?"
"Because it's a beautiful flower and you're a beautiful girl."
I shake my head. "Honey, don't be cheesy."
He laughs. "So, you haven't told me much about your mom." He says. "You told me the whole situation was complicated, but you never told me the situation."
"Well, we can do that over ice cream and pizza."
He looks around. "Where are we getting the ice cream and pizza?"
I grab his hand and begin leading him upstairs to my star gazing room that Nalsa made me. Again, I am getting an elevator in this place. Any who, other than Nalsa, nobody knows about this place. It's really special to me, and I only want special people to come up here. So, that's why I'm bringing Lucky.
"Holy..." He says, bent over trying to catch his breath from the never-ending staircase.
"Oh. Sorry." I laugh. "I forget that we don't have the same lung capacity."
He shakes his head. "It's all good." I grab his hand and lead him into the room. In the middle of the floor Ms. Emerald sat up a little picnic of the castle chiefs homemade ice cream and pizza.
"Whoa." He says, looking at the sky. "Whoa!" he spotted the food, that's why he said whoa that time. I love the fact that he was more amazed with the food than the sky. We definitely will get along fine.
I sit down on one side of the picnic. "I hope it's okay that this isn't store bought. I am the ruler of this place and I still don't know much about the things in it."
"It's okay." He sits down, but still stares at the sky. "I bet this place is outrageous at night."
"It is. It's completely amazing." I look up too. "Have you seen the moon since you've been here?
"The moon?" He grabs a piece of pizza.
"Yeah It's INSANE!"
He laughs. "No. I haven't been outside since I came here."
"Well, if you want to stay a while, you can see it. It's really amazing."
He stares at me and smiles. "Of course."
"Oh!" I shout. "I almost forgot! Ms. Emerald went to that place where all the real world stuff is stashed and got me a laptop, just dance, and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones."
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah! I mean, it's not exactly what you wanted, but it's pretty close."
"It's great, Zinn." He smiles even bigger. "So, about this family of yours..."
"Are you sure you want to know?"
He shakes his head. "No, I actually don't want to know about your family." He says. "I want to know about your whole life, including your family!"
"I already told you some of it."
"Some of it, but not all."
"It's too much, Lucky."
He laughs. "Come on, Zinnia. I want to know everything! I want to know about your life before you were a werewolf, after, everything!"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes!" He rolls his eyes, then grins.
I laugh. "Okay. It's a really long and complicated story..." I inhale a deep breath and begin. "So, whenever I was younger I made these two friends named Macy and Andrew."
"Did you have a crush on Andrew?"
"Uh, dude!" I shout. "No interrupting the Queen!" I roll my eyes, and he laughs. I don't think I've been this happy in a while. "Anyway, Macy and Andrew also had a complicated family situation..."
