"Hey mom,

It's Zinn. Just wanted to update you on how we are doing and what we have done. So, we went to this beach (that I can't remember the name of) but it was really cool and we went at 4am and waited for the sun to rise so that Andrew could get his picture for Mr. Michael's class, which I won't tell you what it is of because you probably will be disappointed. However, the cool thing about the beach was there were so many starfish! Macy said that there had probably been a black tide or red tide? I don't remember, whatever you call it happened the night before, which is where the tide comes up and then leaves all of the sea creatures behind and I am not even sure that is what it is called... But whatever you should know what I am talking about... But yeah it was pretty cool. I think you already saw it, but I posted a picture of it on Myspace but you don't really get on there that much so I wasn't sure if you have seen it or not, but if you haven't you should really go look at it because it's really cute and I named it Sammy. Macy and I haven't found the picture we are going to use yet. We have taken a few but none of them have really spoke to us or whatever so yeah... I think Macy wanted to find some snow for her picture. She wants her picture to have ballet involved in it in some way and she tried the sunset but she said it was too cheesy so I think we might go and try to find some snow before we head home. Which I know you'll probably be upset about because we have been gone for so long already and that means we will be gone longer. But we're having a lot of fun and I am 17 years old and Macy is 18 and Andrew's birthday is next week so I am with adults... AND I am practically an adult myself so... Anyway. I love you and I will possibly send you another email tomorrow but also probably not because I think Andrew made friends that he wants to go eat with tomorrow night and I am not sure how late we will stay up and I will probably be too tired because we are getting up early in the morning to go to yoga with Andrew because he is all about mental and physical health so yeah. Again I love you and I will talk to you soon.

Also, let dad know I love him as well... Bye!"

Email sent 4/27/11

"ZINN!" Andrew yells from outside my door.

"I am clothed, Andrew, you can enter." I laugh.

Andrew enters my temporary bedroom combing his tangled, long blonde hair.

"Macy wants to go to dinner." He informs me, "Come with?"

I close my laptop and push my chair away from my desk. "If we can eat somewhere nice because I am tired of the Green Tea Garden."

Andrew rolls his eyes. "You love Mexican?"

"We've had it like every night for dinner, though." I whine. "Let's just get dressed up nice and go out to eat somewhere that is also nice. We haven't done that yet and we have been here for almost 2 weeks."

"Um, the reason for that is because we're poor and we can't afford places that you like."
He walks out the door, then I hear him yelling as he walks down the hall. "MACE! GET DRESSED NICE!" Then I hear his bedroom door shut.

Andrew and I have been friends since 2nd grade. Actually, all three of us have. Andrew and Macy are step cousins. Andrew's aunt married Macy's dad whenever they were 6 and 7. Since then, they have been inseparable. I met them at school while I was in time out for dancing on the table when I was told not to. (I only did it because my annoying teacher commanded me to not get on it again and I was a rebel child and so I made sure she knew that no one tells me what to do, so time out it was for me. Which I hated because I was like 6 or 7 and I felt like time out was too babyish for a kid that age; I still think that.)

Andrew approached me with his curly blonde hair and green eyes and told me how awesome I was. Macy soon noticed him talking to me and joined in. Soon enough, we hung out all the time all throughout Middle school and ever since we started high school.

Andrew is technically out of high school, but he needed one more credit. Therefore, he is taking photography. Not sure how good of an idea that is because all he takes pictures of is his cigarettes or "doctored brownies".

I wasn't very good at making friends. More like enemies. Still I am not good at making friends because for some reason the awkward fairy likes to hitch rides on my shoulder and I make people uncomfortable. It's stupid stuff too. Like I said yes ma'am to a MALE waiter the other night whenever I was ordering 'n and out burger. And I fall a lot. Like, A lot.

I wouldn't say I am antisocial, but I am antisocial.

Thinking about people or being around people gives me anxiety. Too many people staring at me, judging me, waiting for me to make a mistake. Yuck, nope.

I tried being home schooled one year because of how bad my stupid anxiety was every morning before school, but it didn't work. I would wake up, sit down in front of my workload, look at it, then go watch television and eat food. Due to my lazy procrastinating homeschooling life, I fell behind in school. Plus, Andrew and Macy were upset about it, so I had to please them and I went back.

"Ready?" Macy asks as she opens the door in a tight black dress with black tights and black heels.

"Almost." I mumble as I smear lip gloss onto my lips. "The black looks good with your hair."

"Thanks!" Macy fake hair flips her pixie cut, maroon colored hair.

I sat my lip gloss down on the bathroom counter and follow Macy down the hall, out the door, and to the car. Andrew was in the driver's seat blaring his music and flipping his hair like an idiot.

Andrew looks at Mace and I and smiles. "Let's go grubbing." He turns up his favorite song, Pumped up kicks by Foster the People, and drums on the steering wheel as he drives.

I watch the buildings and trees pass as we drive through the city to the restaurant, which is a stupid idea because I know I am going to get car sick; however, I do it anyways.

"You're not the brightest sometimes, Zinnia." Macy giggles.

"I know." I lay back and close my eyes as Andrew drives.
