"The heck Mark?" Y/n said out loud, to herself. All the slightly passive aggressive and sympathetic text messages was sort of expected, but mark's message caught her off guard.

... there is no way in hell that Mark is coming to my house. Then he'll have to explain to my mom. ... which means the only thing I can do is to go to the gardens. Damn.

Y/n got up, trying to get rid of her tangled hair from blocking her vision. After the party the afternoon before, she had gone straight home and cried in her bed. Pathetic, yeah. But she wasn't going to be meeting up wth anyone or their expectations.

The most effort y/n did was to change from her clothes into a tshirt and sweatpants. Looking into the mirror in front of her, y/n could almost laugh at how ridiculous she looked. The eye makeup from last night had rubbed under her eyes, partially because of her tears and partially because of her rubbing her eyes so much. Trying to put some effort into her looks, y/n did a quick brush through of her hair, as well as took off all her makeup.

The face staring back at y/n in the mirror was raw, tired, stripped bare of her usual smile. As she looked at her eyebags, a small groan came from her. This was not one of her good days.

Soon, after 30 minutes of helplessly trying to fixing her hair, she gave up and went to change.

Mark stared at the phone screen, tapping the side unconsciously. He didn't actually think she was going to come, but he still sat there, mulling over yesterday afternoon.

"Oh my god haeun! Are you okay?" Jaemin asked. Mark could almost hear an echo of the door slamming.

"Sh-she ah-attacked me!!!" Haeun spluttered, holding her nose high up in the air, trying to stop the blood flow.

"I know, we saw" Mark heard himself say. He didn't know why he sounded so suspicious, but he know that y/n wouldn't attack her for no reason.

"Oh my god. I can't believe it!" Haeun said, bursting into tears. "On my birthday as well!" She sniffles.

He saw jisung almost laugh at how high pitched and ridiculous her cries sounded, but somehow put on a straight face and nodded in sympathy.

Mark glanced at Jaemin, who was worriedly holding haeun in his arms, an expression of pure heartache as he saw his girlfriend this hurt.

"What was y/n even thinking?!" Jaemin yelled out loud suddenly. I can't even believe she would do that.

The sound of rustling leaves snapped Mark out of his thoughts. He looked in shock as y/n uncomfortably made her way over to him.

3:02. Huh. So she did show up.

Mark opened his mouth to greet her, but she held out her hand in front of her, her eyes closing suddenly.

"Please, hold on. I didn't do it on purpose. I know you're going to yell at me, and I just want to say-"

Mark interrupted her, and said something which made her eyes widen in surprise.

"I was going to say, nice hook."

A/N: do people even say hook anymore. I feel like I'm messing up the mood of the book but I meant hook as in punch lmao whoops.
