A while later, both of them were laying on the over grown grass and staring at the sky above them.

The area was shaded by large white poles cross crossing over. This makeshift ceiling was supposed to be for hooking baskets of flowers or plants over head, according to Mark but it just gave the floor a checkered look to it. The trees made it even darker.

It was mostly silent except for Mark's occasional chewing as he ate his late lunch. Y/n refrained from asking him for some food, because he had missed two meals.

"So..." y/n said cautiously. "What's wrong?" She heard Mark stop chewing, while he pondered her words. He took a deep breath, and in slow, careful sentences, he told her

"The girl I like doesn't like me back."

Y/n could almost laugh bitterly. "I get what you mean." She turned to look at him laying beside her "you've already seen me break down because of it."

He nodded, and reached for her hand. He gave it a reassuring squeeze, held it for another second, and let go of it. Y/n couldn't see the reason behind his action, but she was grateful for it.

"What's she like?" She asked. Mark knew she wanted to know his crush's name, and he was grateful she wasn't going to ask.

"Well," he started, "She has a really big smile. Every time I see it, I want to smile also. She's very pretty, but she doesn't realize it. She's charismatic but in subtle ways. There's always a sparkle in her eyes, even when she's hurting. There's something about her, I don't really know what, that makes me want to protect her. Every time I see her hurt, or scared, I want to wrap my arms around her and stop whatever that is hurting her from reaching her. I want her to be happy, and I want to be the one to make her happy."

There was a long pause between his monologue. "Wow," y/n said softly. "That was, honestly, beautiful." She gave a small laugh.

"Yeah, but she likes someone so..." Mark said uncomfortably.

"I'm sorry..." y/n said. "Uh, can I know who it is?" Mark felt his heart plummet.

Ugh, just the question I've been wanting to avoid.

"Uh," y/n noticed his obvious panic and laughed. "Don't worry," she said. "You don't have to tell me."

He nodded. They laid in comfortable silence for a while, until it was interrupted by Mark's cell phone.

"Oh, I'll answer it." Both of them looked at the caller. Jaemin.

"Hey Mark! Haeun and I are going on a date, how bout you bring you and that girl you keep talking about with us? Haeun wanted a double date with someone, because y/n had a little outburst, and Haeun felt it might be a little uncomfortable." Mark was glad that y/n couldn't hear his conversation. He saw her staring at him the whole time, wanting to know what Jaemin was saying.

He covered his cell phone with his hand and whispered to y/n "he wants me to hang out with him and Haeun." Y/n rolled her eyes. Mark was suddenly struck with an idea. "Hey, you're mad at both of them right?" He asked her and she nodded vigorously. "How bout we ruin their night?" Mark said slyly. She looked surprised at this side of him, but nodded.

"Sure Jaemin! When are you guys meeting? And where?" While Mark got all the details, y/n thought of what Mark could be planning.

Mark hung up, and looked at y/n. "Okay. Y/n," Mark stood up and helped her to her feet. "Would you like to go with me to dinner with Jaemin and Haeun?" Y/n nodded, smiling at the fact He was acting so silly. "Okay! Great! Get dressed up because they're going to a fancy/casual restaurant and I'll come to pick you up in an hour. I can't wait to see their faces when they realize I'm with you!" He said, winking.

Y/n laughed, and nodded. "Sure. I'll be ready. I can't wait to see Haeun." She said sarcastically.

Mark walked her to her house and turned to leave. "See you in an hour!" He said, and walked away.

Y/n laughed and started looking for an outfit. It was 5 minutes later when she stopped abruptly.

Wait, is this a date?!
