Y/n stared at him for a full 7 seconds. It took her a while to say something, and when she did, all she could say was "what...?" She realized how stupid she must sound, but still, she wouldn't expect Mark so say such a thing.
Mark was such a good person, always doing what's right and being kind. Hearing him congratulate her on her punch was kind of shocking.
Mark laughed at her reaction, totally relaxed on what he had said. "Yeah. And your entrance was pretty dramatic also."
Y/n had a slight twinge of annoyance, thinking that Mark saw it all as a performance, but she was mostly grateful someone wasn't being totally cold or awkward with her.
"I mean, y- you aren't angry?!" Y/n said, walking over to sit next to Mark. Mark shook his head. "No, I didn't think haeun was that nice either." Y/n nodded unconsciously.
"Plus," Mark said, turning to face her, "I know you. You wouldn't hurt her unless she did something to provoke you, other than being jaemin's girlfriend." Y/n froze, realizing that Mark was studying her closely.
"So the question is," Mark started again, keeping his eyes on y/n while she tried her best to not look at him, "what happened before you punched her?"
The question was obviously very uncomfortable for both of them, because they sat in silence for a minute before y/n even spoke up.
"Well... she- uh" y/n started. Before she could speak again another buzz from her phone stopped her.

Y/n hesitated before hitting the ignore button.
Ignored.
She turned to look at Mark, who was staring at her phone. "Answer it," he said but as she went to turn on her phone he grabbed her wrist "wait!! Do it later. After this." He said, "I don't want him to say anything that messes with our conversation."
Y/n looked at him, he seemed oblivious to the fact he was still holding onto his wrist. An awkward moment past where he kept holding on to her. Soon his eyes widened in realization and his face flushed. He let go of her wrist suddenly and leaned away from her, stuttering his apology.
"S-sorry! I didn't know, uh I didn't know what I was doing I didn't mean to hold onto your wrist my bad oh-" but y/n merely smiled. She realized once Mark was in an awkward situation he tended to ramble on, just like last time they were in the garden.
"No, it's fine" she said, placing her hand into her lap. "But, uh to answer the question beforehand, she was just telling me how," she stopped, her voice clearly had hitched. Mark looked at her, concerned, but continued on. "She said how jaemin would never like me, and i should stay away, even as friends." The last word lapsed into silence as both friends let the words sink in. Mark was clearly analyzing what she had just said.
Another buzz broke the silence and both Mark and y/n turned to look at the phone.

Y/n didn't hesitate this time, but pressed ignore.
Ignored.
Mark stared at her for a second, and then said "you should answer it now." Y/n nodded and turned on her phone.
Jaemin:
Hey, I realized I was a little harsh. I'm sorry.
Jaemin:
Can I talk to you today? Maybe at 4?
Y/n and Mark stared at the phone for a second, and said nothing. Mark was the first to speak. "You should go. We can discuss this later."
Even though she knew how things just happened, she couldn't help but feel excited to know she would be meeting with Jaemin, which made her feel a little guilty.
Mark watched her, her eyes staring into nothing. He knew that she was thinking, and he couldn't help but feel bad for her, after all she went through. She looked so helpless, so small, sitting next to him. The way her eyebrows scrunched together when she was thinking hard was, well, pretty cute.
"Hey," Mark said, tapping her arm, and she turned to look. "I know you, I know things will work out. Go talk to Jaemin. I know him as well, and both of you would be willing to forgive. Don't worry." Mark saw her eyes well slightly, with tears of gratitude. Before he could register anything, she attacked him in a hug, holding him tightly. He was too shocked to do anything for a second, but then hugged her back.
"Thanks." She whispered and then walked out of the room.
Mark was still holding his arms in a hugging position, too shocked to move, the ghost of where she was, still hugging him.
