Y/n heard a slight laugh from above and the words "I'm coming!" Come from the shaded figure in the building. Since the sun was above the school, all she could see was a shadow of someone's head, but she recognized the voice.

Jeno ran through the entrance of the courtyard and ran to where y/n laid. She sat up quickly in order to face him, and watched him heave to catch his breath.

"Man, you made me run 2 flights of stairs to reach you." He said in a slight laugh, still out of breath.

"I didn't make you do anything." Huffed y/n and crossed her arms as she looked at jeno. He smiled at her, in a I-didnt-just-see-everything-that-happened way. His eyes flickered upwards for a split second, landing on the space above her head. He smiled to himself suddenly, and laughed. He saw her watching him suspiciously and took one last breath. "Well, I should probably go." And took off running again.

"What the heck?" Y/n said to herself as she watched the boy run off once again. As she craned her neck towards where she was running, she found herself once again staring at the same figure she had seen so much of the past couple of weeks.

With a small timid smile, Mark tenderly made his way over to her and sat on the bench next to her. Too weary to do anything and too emotionally drained, y/n allowed herself to use Mark as a support as they sat together, listening to the birds and the small chatter in the background.

"Not as nice as the garden, isn't it?" Mark said in a shaky, but humorous voice. Y/n gave a small laugh in return.

"Tell me why I did that." Y/n murmured as she rested her head on marks shoulder.

"Well," he started. "Maybe I was right. You knew all along what you really needed and that wasn't him." They sat in silence for a few seconds.

"Maybe that was you." Y/n said quietly, so quiet it almost didn't happen.

Mark gave a small start, in shock of what she just said. Her head still resting on his shoulder, she could hear his heart beat a little louder, a little faster. Almost as fast as hers.

"Now, tell me about the girl you like again. Won't you?" Y/n said. Even without looking up she could feel him swallow and nod.

"Well, she just got her heart broken and she's confused. She made herself believe she loved someone for as long as I can remember, and this is the first time she's finally thinking about someone else. She's fragile. I want to help her. That may not mean she likes me back, but that does mean leading her to steady ground. Because I care for her. And I think- I hope she cares about me also." He said with a long breath. She nodded to herself.

"I'm gonna tell you about the guy I like." Y/n said. "He's a caring guy who stood with me even when I punched a girl in the face." She laughed to herself. "Even when he saw me hurting over another boy he decided to stay by my side. And I hope he realizes how thankful I am." There was a long pause, but it was comfortable, broken only by the wind and the birds.

"I think he realized." Mark said, and pulled her into a kiss.
