Leandrea's POV
I think I just had a minor heart attack.
I turned around to see none other than Rachel Brewer, Ryden's ex.
"Excuse me?" I say trying to make my voice scarier. "What did you say?"
"You heard me right Leandrea," she said rolling her tongue on my name. I felt Ryden's shoulders tighten next to mine.
"What do you want Rachel?"
"I noticed that you hadn't taken heed of my advice," she continued staring daggers at me. "That boyfriend you got there is a player and a good for nothing pain."
A crowd was starting to gather around us and I felt myself begin to slide under my seat. I wasn't used to the attention.
"That's enough," Ryden said standing up. "Get out of here Rachel and stop throwing your jealous ass around. We're done means we're done."
Rachel looked like she was about to say something but stomped her feet and walked away and the crowd slowly started to disperse, everyone getting back to their own business.
"So you guys are dating now?" Caleb asked and I resisted the erge to slap him.
"No," Ryden and I said together.
"Well you clearly didn't deny her accusation," Dylan said leaning forward and taking a sip of his drink. "I was shocked mahn. You guys were getting along pretty well. I can't believe you didn't tell me you broke up dude."
"It might've slipped my mind," Ryden muttered.
"Why did you do it?" Kevin asked. "You guys seemed on excellent terms that day after football practice. A bit extra display of PDA, but I didn't sense anything that would lead to a break up."
"It's not such a big deal okay?" Ryden said and I sensed irritation in his voice. "She was getting too clingy and it wasn't working out."
I looked at him, wondering if he would mention something about Marlene but he didn't. Oh well, maybe he didn't want anyone else knowing. It was fine with me. As long as he kept her happy.
The chatter on the table continued to drift from topic to topic and I was getting the feeling that maybe both the groups might come together as one. There was a considerable amount of tension between Caleb and Ryden, everyone saw that. I hoped it wouldn't be that way for long.
A while later, the bell rang signaling the end of lunch and we all got up to head to our classes. Turned out I had Art with Jeremy so I was glad that I didn't have to sit there like a loner like I normally did.
Maybe this day isn't so bad afterall

I heard my laughter echo in the class as tears pricked my eyes.
"And that is why the chicken crossed the road," Jeremy ended with a grin.
The few students left in the class shot me weird stares as they packed up their art supplies and got ready to leave.
"Hasn't someone ever given you an award for your lame sense of humor? I asked him slinging my bag on my shoulder and proceeding to leave the class.
"Quite a few actually," he said tapping his chin with his fingers his eyes sparkling with delight. After 2 torturous hours of art we realized that we both had a free track and sat back in the Art class drawing stupid doodles of each other.
In that time I managed to secretly sneak a couple of glances at him as the light reflected of his eyes making them more beautiful than they already were. I meant to ask him about his eyes, how we had such a rare colour and managed to look like a blonde Will Herondale but I never got down to it.
