Leandrea's POV
I couldn't remember anything except darkness and noise.
Lots of noise.
And pain.
I tried to block out the ringing in my ears with a pillow but it only got worse as my head started to thump.
"Wake up Leah! We need to go!" I could hear Marlene's voice in the distance. "Move your ass child!"
I grunted in my sleep trying to turn over but couldn't.
That's when I suddenly became away of the pain on my stomach, something hard and heavy pinning me down to the bed.
I sat up with a start and banged my head onto something hard.
"Ouch!" Marlene groaned as I fell back onto the pillows. She was rubbing her head and from the position she was in - sitting on me- I could tell she was the cause of my pain.
"Get the hell up!" She yelled and I tried to cover my face with a pillow again, but she yanked it away from me. "Ryden's picking us up anytime now and you aren't even up."
"Get off me first," I groaned as she awkwardly jumped to the floor. "You know you aren't thin anymore right? I'm pretty sure my intestines burst cause of your weight!"
"Shut up and get dressed," not taking the slightest heed of my insult. She knew she wasn't fat with those toned abs under the sweater she was wearing.
Yes my twin sister had abs.
How cool is that?
"What's Ryden coming here for??"
"Today's Saturday," Marlene said rolling her eyes. "I have my chemo."
"But mom isn't here?"
"You and Ryden are gonna be there. It'll be alright."
"But Marlene-"
"Shut up and get dressed," she said walking out of my room. "Ryden's going to be here in 15 minutes."
I sighed and made my way to the bathroom across the corridor that Marlene and I shared.
I almost screamed when I saw my own reflection in the mirror.
My blue eyes were ringed with red surrounded by a sea of black. Dried tears streaked my face and my lips were red and bloody. My blonde hair was in tangles that stood up in the most absurd way and I was pretty sure I could get myself a part in The Conjuring.
I remembered crying myself to sleep last night. Jeremy's name the only words on my lips.
It had been two weeks and my nightmares were getting stronger and stronger by the night.
Many a time when I'd woken up screaming or in tears, Ryden was there for me offering his chest to cry into.
He never said anything, just held me in his arms and waited till I cried my eyes dry and soaked his shirt. Then he slowly tucked me into bed and waited till I fell asleep again. We never spoke about what happened during those nights. We both just went around pretending that we'd slept like the dead.
Sometimes when I woke up crying, he wasn't there. Those were the nights when he didn't stay over.
Those were the worst nights.
The nights when I didn't have the security of his arms and the reassurance of his beating heart. I was left alone to curl up into a ball and cry my heart out.
Alone.
The mere fact of being raped wasn't that tormenting. It was the fact that it had been Jeremy. I'd never expected the same eyes that I fell in love with, to gleam with such intense evil.
