There stood Morgause.
She was silhouetted against the watery light and the drizzle behind her.
The sorceress took one at Emily and Arthur and roared with an overwhelming fury as she flew towards them. Shoving Arthur away, she grabbed the girl by the scruff of the neck and jabbed her first two long-nailed fingers straight into Emily's eyes.
Arthur yelled in horror and Emily's scream seemed to wrip her soul from her chest. Morgause cackled and twisted her fingers so that the poor girl's eyes popped and the bloody mess of fluid and veins trickled down her cheeks, leaving empty sockets.
Emily was still screaming as Morgause punched through her chesh with the strength of a rhino, splintering ribs and splattering blood.
She grabbed Emily's heart and squeezed.
Scarlet patterned Morgause's dress as she let Emily fall. She was dead long before she hit the ground.
Arthur was shaking with shock and disgust as Morgause looked down at herself.
"Another good outfit ruined," she sighed.
