FOR THE FIRST TIME
CHAPTER FIFTY ONE
❝TRYING TO MAKE IT WORK BUT MAN THESE TIMES ARE HARD. BUT WE'RE GONNA START BY DRINKING OLD CHEAP BOTTLES OF WINE, SIT TALKING UP ALL NIGHT, SAYING THINGS WE HAVEN'T FOR AWHILE, AWHILE YEAH. WE'RE SMILING BUT WE'RE CLOSE TO TEARS, EVEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, WE JUST NOW GOT THE FEELING THAT WE'RE MEETING, FOR THE FIRST TIME.❞

Heartbreak is something you can't ever cure or get rid of. Every heartbreak you've ever felt lingers in your heart, it stays there for the rest of your life. It follows you and everything you do. There is no way to properly move on or rid yourself of heartbreak, it isn't possible. We don't learn how to move on, we learn how to make the pain bearable for ourselves.

Rosé isn't like other girls, we all know that much. But she most definitely did not want to be like the girls who cried and sobbed over the guy with ice cream stuffed in her mouth. She wanted to remain strong, she wanted to move on as if nothing has changed. But everything has changed and she has no choice but to suffer the consequences of the decisions she made.

But it isn't good to hole in your feelings, to hide them behind you and act as if nothing's wrong. You have to release pain somehow, though that doesn't mean you necessarily have to show your pain. But don't deny it, accept it.

Maybe Rosé thought she knew what was best for herself. This idea of avoiding the topic, almost forgetting about it, seemed like it would make it disappear into the air forever. But love doesn't work in that bullshit hypothetical sense.

Love is meant to be felt, even if you want to push it, you can't. Because you chose to love, you chose to be loved, you chose to feel this, so in a way you chose to feel pain as well. Because just as happiness follows love, you tend to forget that pain goes hand in hand with the very thing that makes you happy. Isn't that terrifying? To realize that love comes at the cost of pain every time.

Kelsey Easton has always been a phenomenal musician. She knew at a young age she loved music more than anything else in the world — even girls. Her confidence, her work ethic, everything was built up for her passion, her dream.

Rosé admires that about her best friend, Kelsey's ability to strive for only the best to reach her goals. She knows that her friend has been through so much with being an openly out lesbian, her dads being gay, and her skin color. But Kelsey's armor grew with every crack made onto it, because she took care of her armor and covered those cuts.

She was the push Rosé needed to release her pain the first time. She was the one who encouraged Rosé to publish Falling Dimensions, to have this be a way for her to stop bottling her emotions.

The Korean girl was even lucky enough to have her best friend make the background music for each chapters. Each chapter had a unique song instrumental background that made the story more realistic, more painful, more emotional. Kelsey had a knack for listening whether it be for music or listening to others, she always had a careful ear for everything.
