Dei and Richard were supposed to go to Central park right across their building but since it was February, it was still chilly. It was their last day in New York. Dei has to go back to London for school and Richard to Manila to wrap things up. They decided to stay in instead. 

"RJ, stop tickling please!" Dei said while running and laughing

"No baby, here I come!" Richard ran after her.

They were like two kids who were laughing, playing and running with reckless abandon.

Dei was huffing and puffing. "Stop na, RJ. Stop na please."

Richard pulled her and the both fell into the bed with legs and hands intertwined.

"I never thought, one day, you and I will be together. I knew it was a possibility but I just wasn't sure. When I saw you after your break up with Christian, I was just so scared that if you fell in love again and he broke your heart again, I don't know what I was doing to do, Dei. I prayed for someone who was worthy of your love"

"And here you are" she replied while caressing his face

"It took me a long time to let you know how I felt because I didn't feel I was worthy, I had to make sure that I love you, that it wasn't just a fleeting feeling because I can never and will never forgive myself if I hurt you just like that."

"I know you won't. You've been taking care of me. When you said at 14 that I can call you anytime when I need you and that wherever in the world you are you'll come running. You've proven that a hundred times to me, Thank you, RJ." and she engulfed him in a hug.

By this time, they were snuggling, their bodies were so close that one didn't know where one limbs ends and the other one begins.

"RJ, uhhmmm?"

"What is it, love?"

Dei smiled. "It's different when I hear you call me love for real. It's surreal"

Richard hugs her tighter, "Love, love, love, love"

Dei laughs and slaps Richard's arms

"Have you ever heard back from Christian?"

"No, why do you ask?"

"There are days I still think of Camille, not romantically you know, more of how is she doing now?"

"...."

"RJ, cuddle more please."

"Awww.. my baby girl, come here."

"Dei, tomorrow we go back to reality. Thank you for suggesting that we keep this one for us first. It feels good, and so right."

"I don't want to go back RJ. But I know I have to."

"Dei..."

"Hmmm?"

"How did you know that I declined the internship? I didn't tell anyone I was chosen in the first place?"

"Hmmm.."

"Dei?"

"When I realised that I love you, I wanted to do something to make you happy, sort of a grand gesture and tell you I love you. One night, in bed, I realised that the last few years you kept on mentioning this internship that you wanted to qualify for, you said it so often that Sam said that you're obsessed with it, then the Christian thing happened. 

I never heard it from you again. I research like I said, one of the first things I learned brought me to your former professor, good thing we bumped into him one time and he remembered me, we did a video call and he said you were one of the top choices but you declined. It disappointed him you know, but he understood.

When I worked out the timelines, it was when you were taking care of me when I was recovering from my breakup. 

I wanted to go to you, right then and there. Profess my love, you couldn't have been more perfect in my eyes. I'm sorry for being selfish, I remember whispering to you not to leave me and you didn't at the expense of your own dreams. 

RJ, Love, I want you to make a promise. If there will be moments like this, please know that I support you. I will support you in whatever endeavour you choose whatever my situation is. I want you to go after your dreams, no chase them and I will be here. I will be your number one supporter."

"Dei, I'll always put you first. It's non-negotiable. I would have never forgiven myself if I left you for that internship. It wasn't worth it then, it wasn't worth leaving you. I know that getting this offer wasn't easy. I'm sure those guys gave you a hard time. Thank you. I never thought I'd get this opportunity again."

Richard then leaned over, drew a deep breath and kissed her. It was a light kiss at first. He licked her lips. He then kissed her hungrily. The kiss grew, their tongues duelling and fighting for dominance. Her fingers threaded his hair and wrapping her arms around his neck while he pulled her for a burning, bruising kind of kiss. The kiss continued until they were gasping for air.
