"If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve its ship, he would have kept it in port forever" ~ Thomas Aquinas
Chapter 80! Grabe. I won't get tired of saying this, thank you for your love and support. I'm still overwhelmed. 💙
Did you know that 80 is a semi-perfect number? A semi-perfect number is equal to the sum of all or some of its proper divisors. 1, 4, 5, 10, 20 and 40 gives us 80.

Richard was woken up by her mother. She said that the hotel staff was actually looking for Dei and no one was answering at the apartment across the hall, so the staff thought maybe they'd be able to help. The staff profusely apologised for the disturbance. The staff says that a certain Mister Ayman called several times to tell Miss Mendoza to call him in Switzerland, it is of outmost importance.
Richard knocks but there was no reply. He used the spare key that he has to open. He found Dei in deep slumber.
"Dei, baby girl, please wake up."
Dei grumbles a little.
"Baby girl, wake up please."
He shakes Dei a little. "RJ, love. Sleep some more." Dei turns to her side and goes back to sleep.
"Dei, please wake up. You have to call someone in Switzerland."
"...."
"Dei, they say it's important."
"...."
He shakes her again. "RJ, Love. What time is it? It's probably too early."
"It's 6 in the morning, Dei."
"It's early for me."
Richard knew that Dei was already awake but didn't want to get up. It's his last resort. He moves in and gives her a kiss. She responds. The kiss becomes hot and heavy. Their hands roaming and tongues duelling.
They stop for air. Dei opens her eyes and Richard hands her his phone. "It's ringing. It's Mister Ayman's number."
***
Dei was inconsolable. Rose was caressing her back and Adrienne was giving her water.
Richard was packing Dei's things in the other room when Ricardo walks in. "RJ, you and Dei are booked on a flight back to Geneva."
"Thanks Dad, I'll just send a message at work"
"Dei, in her current state will not be able to travel alone."
"I know."
"Your flight leaves in 3 hours. Go pack your things. I'll arrange for a car."
***
They landed in Geneva, thirty minutes ago.
"Mister Ayman." Richard said as he shook the man's hand
"Richard, Dei."
"Mister Ayman, where is Oma?"
"I'll bring you to her."
***
Dei sees her grandfather sitting outside of a room. "OPA!!!!" She runs to him and gives him a hug.
"Where is Oma, Opa? How is she doing?"
"They are running tests on her. We thought she had a stroke."
"Thought?"
"The symptoms were the same. The physicians say that it's a TIA , transient ischemic attack. They say that there could be a clot, so they are looking for it now. She is doing better, the TIA lasted for 10 minutes but those were the longest ten minutes of my life. It felt years in slow motion."
"I'm sorry, Opa, I wasn't here."
"You couldn't have known, baby girl. I'm glad you're here now."
"They are running a CT scan and MRI. They could also run chest x-rays, ECG or EKG and echo test, too."
"Opa, will Oma be alright now?"
"They say that if you have TIA, there could be a chance that an actual stroke could happen. With her age, it is better to have a round the clock care so they're admitting here. I said I don't care if we stay here in the hospital for a month."
Dei hugs her grandfather again. Ralph finally notices Richard.
"RJ, thank you for accompanying Dei."
Richard nods. "Oh, RJ!" Dei says, "Don't you have work today?"
"I have. Dei, Opa. Please could you excuse me to make a phone call at work?"
Opa and Dei nods.
***
"Dei, how are you feeling now?"
"Tired, RJ but better now that I know Oma is stable."
Richard hugs Dei.
"RJ, Love. I'm sorry for dragging you into this. I know you're supposed to be at work yet you dropped everything to accompany me here."
"You would have done the same. I love my job, Dei. But I love you more."
Dei hugs Richard. They were in her room in her grandparents' house. Her grandfather sent them home first so they should wash up and rest for a time before they go back to the hospital.
"RJ, Love. Calm down. I feel na sobrang selfish ko. Hindi nga ako makausap kanina. You had to change my shirt and put my shoes kasi I was in a trance. I can't lose my grandparents, RJ."
"I know, I know."
"I remember you bringing me to your apartment. Auntie Rose and Mamie were taking care of me. Then I found myself in an airplane seated next to you. I don't really know what happened in between."
"Excessive stress can cause that. When they were caring for you, I packed our stuff. I was going with you even if they fired me. You weren't in a situation to travel alone and even if you were, I would still go. Dei, family comes first."
"Yes, RJ. Family comes first." Dei leaned on Richard and after a few minutes, he felt she fell asleep. He was stroked her hair and kissed her forehead.
