"Dei, my darling, why the long face?" Sophie asked her.

Dei exhales

"You can tell me, darling."

Dei sighs.

"Sophie, where's Michel-Jan?"

"I don't know, probably with friends. He suggested we should do a girl talk, he's been noticing that you're not you lately and I agree."

Dei sighs again.

"I know that sigh. Are you having boy problems? You know I'm more familiar with boy problems. I've had more experience in this wild, wild world, you know." Sophie says in a dramatic fashion

This made Dei smile. "Sophie, you're just eight months older than me and you had two more boyfriends than I did!"

"To-may-to, To-mah-to. All the same. So, spill, dahling. Wait, it's that boy isn't it?

"What boy?"

"The one you fancy."

Dei's gives her a furrowed eyebrows

"The Faulkerson kid."

The mere mention of Faulkerson, Dei breaks into a smile.

"Ah, so it is that Faulkerson kid. So, tell Auntie Sophie, what did that kid do? Did he hurt you? Tell Auntie Sophie."

"Sophie, what are you doing?" Dei laughs while Sophie was trying to tie her scarf around her head.

"Auntie Sophie, is trying to be a fortune teller. You won't tell me, so I become fortune teller, maybe I can guess correctly!"

Dei by this time was laughing so hard,"Sophie! Stop it.. people are already looking at us"

"Why? Haven't they seen a beautiful fortune teller, they haven't seen Auntie Sophie!"

"Alright! Alright! I'll tell you!" Sophie fixes her scarf and listens intently.

"I miss him terribly. We do chat, video calls and calls but I miss having him next to me. I'm off to Manila in a few days. It's going to be 15 hours time difference between us. I really miss him. It's been a month since he left for the US. I hate long distance relationships..." Dei starts to tear up.

Sophie stands up and sits next to Dei. She then starts hitting her softly with her scarf.

"Nicole Dei! Why are you moping? After that lad slaves five full days by making you breakfast, lunch and dinner, bringing out to watch plays, stocking your fridge with food you can reheat so that you don't start living on cereals again, patiently waiting for 4 hours because your professor was drilling you during your thesis defence and that's all you can say, "I miss him and I hate long distance relationships.""

"Dei, stand up!"

Dei stands up, Sophie is trying to drag her off the table.

"Sophie, where are we going, we haven't paid"

Sophie opens her purse and gets a few bills and leave it on the table.

Dei and Sophie walks out of the establishment, with Sophie holding Dei by the elbow and drags Dei to her car.
