LXXXVI

After that conversation with Richard on breaking up, she walked out, changed and went to bed. She felt the weight of the bed shifted and knew that it was Richard. They slept next to each other. 

When Dei woke up, Richard was already gone. He was away the whole day but when she opened the fridge, there were three containers with labels, breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also said For Dei.

She had just woken up, she checks the time, it's 2 in the morning. She walks out of the room to get a glass of water when she sees the light was on in one of the rooms. She sees Richard pacing in front of a wall, which had been made into a whiteboard. There were equations on the board, he seem to be doing some calculations on the board.

Dei drinks a glass of water and goes back to their room. After forty minutes, she gets a phone call. She runs to the door, gets 4 big brown bags and brings it to the kitchen.

She goes to where Richard is after several minutes. 

Dei knocks but RJ was too engrossed pacing in the room. She decides to go inside. 

"RJ?"

"Dei! Bakit gising ka pa?"

"I didn't feel you next to me." She runs to him and hug him.

"I'm sorry." they both say in sync

"Dei, I would never cheat on you. I even went this morning to the store and got a new phone. They sent my phone to a service center. It was a case of swollen battery, that my phone gets discharged so easily."

"I know that RJ, I guess I was really excited to see you and I was tired so when I saw you with Victoria and not answering your phone, I just concluded stuff right away."

"I'm sorry, Dei, Love for the hurt that I've caused you."

"We hurt each other, RJ. We were both tired and hungry. We let it get to us. I noticed that you were soaked yesterday and I didn't even care. Are you alright? Coughs? Feeling unwell?"

"I'm alright, Love. Knowing we're okay, makes me better. Dei, Love. Go back to sleep. It's too early to be up."

Dei shakes her head. "Can you take a break?"

Richard nods. Dei brings him to the kitchen. There were a lot of food on the kitchen counter. 

"What is this?" Richard asks

"I can't cook so I ordered food. I know you're hungry. When you are in this mood, I know that sometimes you get so intense and so focused you forget to eat. Have you had dinner?"

"I had a sandwich at five."

"You must be famished, RJ, Love. Let's eat, so you'll have more energy in doing your stuff."

Richard walks to Dei and hugs her. "I missed you. I missed having you around. Can we not go to bed mad at each other? I couldn't sleep. It killed me that we were going to break up"

"RJ, yes. Let's not do that. I cried myself to sleep. I couldn't take it."

"I couldn't sleep. And this morning, I was not myself, knowing that we weren't okay."

"Let's not do that, RJ, Love. Let's not argue when we're both tired, hungry and stressed."

"I was going to say the same thing."

Richard woke up to the smell of food, which was unusual. He looked for Dei and she wasn't next to him. He immediately walked to the kitchen.

"Parang ang sarap naman niyan?"

"I'm just reheating leftover food from last night and making coffee. You don't mind eating leftover di ba?"

Richard shakes his head.

"RJ, Love, upo ka na dyan. I'll get you a plate and silverware so you can eat before you go to work."

"Ang sarap naman. I love it when I wake up next to you tapos ngayon may pa-breakfast pa. Parang gusto ko nito araw araw." 

"RJ, huwag abuso."

Richard laughs and says "Sabi ko nga."

"Dei, Love. Why are you here?"

"Bakit ayaw mo ba?" Dei drops the fork that she's using to put food on Richard's plate and walks out of the counter. Richard grabs her and engulfs her in his arms. "Dei, naman! Hindi, hindi. You can live here with me if you want."

Dei cups his face and gives him a quick kiss which turns into a kiss full of passion. "Well, sabi ni Opa, I look so stressed. Maybe I should take a few days off daw. It will help me. So here I am."

"RJ, Love, you're early, well earlier compared to yesterday"

"I know and it's all because of you?"

"What because of me? RJ, what did you do?"

"Dei, Bakit ako? I said it's all because of you."

"What did you do nga? Did you resign? You've been making a joke out of it. Tell me you didn't?"

"I didn't."

"So how am I involved in all these?"

"Last night after we had that food fest at 2 in the morning, something dawned on me. So I changed my equations and coded it."

He then proceeds to tell her about what happened on the day she arrived. 

"So RJ, Love. Are you saying that it's working now? That you did 2 people's work that you previously did in a month in 2 days?"

"Not necessarily because I reused some of the code but let's just say that it's now fixed and we're back on track."

Dei gives Richard a hug. "RJ, I am very proud of you."

"Thank you. And because of that, I was able to leave early at work and I am off tomorrow. So where do you want to go?"

"Nowhere."

"Huh?"

"RJ, we hardly see each other, we've only been texting these past two weeks and it's just "I hope you have a wonderful day today. It's a snow day today." or somewhere along that lines. So, no. Not going anywhere. We are staying in."

Richard nods. "Staying in it is." He then starts tickling Dei. Dei is running from Richard and Richard pursuing her. Sounds of laughter and giggles could be heard in the whole apartment.
