Chapter Four: A Little More Truth
Tessa's POV
It's Saturday morning and matt and I are lying on my bed talking. "Matt?" I have a question I've been dying to ask him.
"Yeah" He looks at me with a questioning gaze.
"I wanted to ask you something... It's kind of personal though and you don't have to.." I don't have time to finish before he interrupts confirming my hesitation.
"Yes anything."
I was at least expecting some kind of struggle, but hey I'm glad I don't have to start an argument. "You know how you said you knew how it felt to have a bad breakup and that's what made you how you are?" I'm still wondering if he will actually answer this.
He's hesitant but eventually he answers with a sigh. "Yeah."
"Well I was just wondering who dumped you and why?" I stare at him in silence before he answers.
"It was a girl I had met over the summer. Her name was Hope and she was a great person. I thought I was in love but she had a drug problem. She tried to get me into that kind of stuff but I wasn't interested. She said I wasn't good enough for her and she had plenty of better options. She said that because I wouldn't do drugs. That's pretty messed up right? I mean you shouldn't have to change for someone in order to have them love you. I hadn't realized this until it was too late but when she dumped me I was pretty messed up for a while. It changed me and I haven't dated anyone sense. I just don't like to be judged and told I need to improve myself." His gaze is distant as he tells me this.
"Wait, so you never dated Jessica?" This surprised me sense that rumors been going around for a while now."
He looks taken aback by this. "What? God no. she tried hooking up with me at a party. I really wasn't in the mood. She was drunk too and she was getting annoying. The next thing I knew rumors were being spread and I didn't care enough to stop them." We just lay there staring at each other for a while.
Sure enough he had to leave some time or another. After he leaves I take a shower and get ready for bed. Nick comes in right as I'm getting settled in bed. "Hey little sis." I love how he says that. He always approaches me with those three words and it never gets old.
"Hey." I reply with a wide grin on my face.
"I wanted to apologize.."
I interject and say "It's okay. You were just looking after me in the only way you could think of."
He nods his head and smiles. He kisses my forehead and leaves me lying on my bed in total darkness.
