CHAPTER 1:
NEW KID
SONG FOR CHAPTER:
YOUTH (COVER) BY DANIEL SEAVEY"Don't worry Dani, we're going to be fine living on our own" a women with light brown hair smiled. She took a single glance at the teenage boy next to her, before turning back to face the road. Her smile dropped and she sighed knowing that he wasn't too happy. The boy known as Daniel kept a straight face and pressed his crossed arms firmly against his chest. He wasn't ecstatic with having to move and really hasn't said a word since they began their journey to this new town.
That was three hours ago.
"Look, I know you're upset; but at least say something" she glanced at him again. By now he turned his attention so he was looking outside the window. He took a deep breath and released it, making sure his mother heard. She decided that it was best if she just left him alone. She placed her full attention to the road and didn't give her son a second thought. If he wasn't going to try with her, then she wasn't going to try with him.
Could you blame him though? He had to leave his original home all because his parents were having some complications with each other. It involved constant yelling, along with plates always breaking and doors continually slamming. Daniel pretended that he never heard them and would just hide away in his room. He would curl in a ball and hum random songs to himself hoping that it would work. It did. Occasionally. So saying that when his parents finally finalized the divorce, he couldn't be anymore than just happy. It was amazing and they even had a great system where he would live with his mom and visit his dad on the weekends. That obviously wasn't even enough. It was only a year after his parents divorced, that his mom broke the news saying that they will be moving.
He has never been so upset in his life.
He couldn't just leave his childhood home like that. What about his friends? His dad? His old life? It was gone within a matter of seconds. It wasn't until a month later that, the two of them had packed their belongings and decided to leave. Which leads them to where they are now. Daniel built this wall around him, and his mom tries her hardest to knock it down. Nothing works. He kept his mouth shut and his anger locked away.
He shouldn't be complaining though. Apparently the town that they're moving too, is a lot better than his old one. He had read about it online. He read the history behind the town. All the famous places that people loved to go and even about the school he will be attending for the rest of his teenage life. It wasn't known for showing kids of all ages about who George Washington was, or what two plus two equals. No, it was something far different. Instead it helped people from ages five through twenty five about how to control their special abilities. Daniel knew he was wasting his time just thinking that they could help him. His old school couldn't even help him contain his abilities. He always managed to spiral out of control. So eventually he just gave up using his powers. He did everything the natural way. He didn't even know why he couldn't control his powers. By this time an average person would be able to take control.
Not him.
His mother would always say it was because he was special.
Unless you found an awkward eighteen year old, that was descent with singing and found an interest in both guys and girls special, then you might as well be considered crazy. Just the thought made Daniel roll his eyes. He wasn't special in any way shape or form. Or at least he doesn't think so.
"And we are here!" His mother cheered, making the brunette boy break away from his thoughts. And when looking, they indeed did pass a sign that said Welcome to Stewbridge. Daniel sighed once again for about the millionth time today. He leaned back in his seat, wishing that this car could stop already. He really wanted to stretch, sleep, eat. Do anything that didn't involve him sitting in a small car anymore.
