CHAPTER 11:
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
SONG FOR CHAPTER:
BECAUSE OF YOU BY KELLY CLARKSON

"Zach, wait up!" Daniel yelled as he ran after the pale boy. Zach simply looked back at the four others chasing after him, making him pick up speed. His lungs were giving out and his legs felt completely numb at this moment; yet he kept going. He was almost at his special spot anyway. If he got there then he could just ignore the others and simply take in the amazing scenery hoping his thoughts would allow him to escape. All of the having to defeat the darkness business was making him feel uneasy.

He wasn't known as being a tough kid. He was all brain power. He had mental strength, not physical. All his life he had someone help him whenever he wasn't able to defend himself. That's probably why he wasn't good at being strong. Maybe if he tried, he could back out of all of this. While the others tried to defeat the darkness, he could be living his normal life. And when they complete the task, never needing his help, then he'll congratulate them.

"Zach, please!" Jonah yelled after. The youngest didn't even look back that time. He pushed past a large leaf and ran under a large branch. The boys copied his movements and followed him until they were soon standing on a cliff. Zach simply overlooked the cliff, his feet on the edge. His arms were crossed, along with his hair blowing in the soft wind. He practically glowed, making all the boys star struck. All except one. Because that one person, knew exactly where he was.

"I'm surprised you've forgot about this place" Zach spoke almost in a whisper. He turned his head lightly so he was able to see the boys, just out the corner of his eye.

The curly haired male frowned in shame, beginning to take a step forward.

"I didn't forget" he replied. Zach scoffed. He turned his head so he faced the amazing blue sky. Just the way the sun was setting over the horizon, allowing many different colors to support the already dimming blue sky. The mountains darkening in the background and the meadow of flowers only a jump from the cliff. And if you actually looked, you could see a little wood made house in the distance. It once held two little kids, that didn't even know why they came to the same meadow almost everyday. And now it just sits there. Occasionally Zach would go and visit; but it hurt to do so. Especially when their one big blow out happened in that little house.

They stopped being friends in that house.

"Mind showing us the way then" Zach chuckled. It was wasn't out of humor though. It was more from pain. Jack and him used to be so close, but lost it all.

It's all because Jack had suddenly taken an interest in Corbyn and his friends. So Zach was alone for a few weeks, until stumbling upon Jonah and how the taller male stood up for him. It was Dominic being evil as always, but Jonah quickly told him off. And the minute Jonah had been partnered with Corbyn for a project the two had clicked. Eventually the four of them all began to hang out. No, it wasn't as fun when it was just one on one with Jack, but it came close. Zach was having fun, or that was before he realized that he was getting taken advantage for being the youngest. He had multiple times told Jack that he didn't feel okay with it and would blow them off at times. It almost became a regular thing to the four of them. And it all came crashing down, once the other three finally broke Zach. That was the day he ran home crying, with a pink liquid covering him.

"Zach" Jack sighed. "I know we-" he got cut off.

"Never mind, I'll do it. It's not like you even cared about our friendship anyway" the pale boy explains. He jumped down from the cliff and began to run down the meadow towards the little house. The three other boys looked between the two confused and a little upset. They felt the hurt that both boys were feeling. They didn't know why they could feel it, but they surely didn't like it. Pushing it aside though, they jumped down the cliff too and took off after Zach.
