CHAPTER 8:
ONE PERSON
SONG FOR CHAPTER:
GASOLINE BY HALSEY

Daniel snapped his eyes open. He sat up alarmed, clutching his neck as it began to burn severely. He rubbed at it, hissing in pain; hoping that the stinging sensation would go away. It didn't and it only got stronger as he noticed the other boys waking up around him. Daniel faced all of them to see that they too held a part of their body in pain. Zach was holding a place behind his ear. Jack clutched onto his forearm. Corbyn rubbed at his waist. While Jonah tried his best to get at his hurting back.

Daniel tried his best to stand to his feet, but fell right back down. He along with the four other boys cried out. They now grabbed at their heads as if a pounding hammer was being forced to their skulls.

"Make it stop!" Zach cried out and falling onto his back. Their agonizing pain was getting harsher by the second. And their screams made the adults jump awake. They took caution looking around, hoping to find the source. They didn't have to look far, because right before them were the hurting teens. Almost instantly Daniel's mother jumped to her feet and began to make her way towards her son. But just as she was about to reach out and touch him, a barrier pushed her back. She fell too the ground with a grunt.

"Miranda!" Daniel's father yelled out, going over to her. The other adults followed him; while the five teens slowly moved to see what was going on. Their eyes widened when seeing their caregivers in the same strange place as they were.

"Mom/Dad/Grandma" the boys groaned out. They tried to move, but fell back down again yelling out in pain. The burning had gotten stronger, causing tears to sting their eyes along with their fist clenching tightly. It was getting harder to breath, so they were inhaling a lot quicker hoping that they could catch some air. It only made it worse. The adults watched in fear.

"How do we make it stop? Where's the Lord?" Jonah's mother quickly asked. Her eyes flickered between everyone hoping for an answer. No one gave her one. Especially since they haven't seen this much power before. Not even when they were in the same position as the young teens.

The five boys yelped, as they felt a sudden blow to their side. It only made that same special area from before start to feel as if spikes were stabbing them. Again Daniel tried to stand to his feet. He did it, but he felt extremely weak. His hands began to glow yellow, as his eyes started to change color. He didn't know what he was doing. He felt as if someone else was controlling him. He watched as the other four too stood to their feet. Their hands were glowing with their own color too. They looked just as scared. They didn't know what was happening either. They all threw their heads back and gasped for air, as their eyes rolled to the back of their heads. And that same area began to glow too.

The adults looked at the boys scared and highly confused.

"It's them. They're the ones" Daniel's father spoke, voicing his thoughts. The others took their gazes off of the teens and on him. Zach's grandmother was the only who actually had an idea on what maybe was going on.

"The ones for what?" Corbyn's mother wondered while furrowing her eyebrows curiously. "Because I swear to God David" She trailed off after.

"To finish the darkness. The ones the Lord has told us about. And considering none of us within our circle were actually too special, all we did is weaken it" David explained, snapping his attention back towards the suffering teens. They stood there in the same position as if in some trance. Their personal areas kept getting brighter as if sending a signal. Some type of marking.
