CHAPTER 19:
IT'S RISING

Daniel woke up breathing heavily. He looked around to see that he was in some type of jail cell. There was a little light; which was shining through a barred window. The brunette quickly got off the ground and stumbled towards the cell door. He grasped the bars and tried his best to see where he was. The sound of groaning made him snap his head to in front of him. He had seen that it was Jack. He was rubbing at his head and glancing around at his surroundings.
"Where the hell am I?" He muttered out. The curly haired boy stood to his feet and looked around even more.
"Jack?" A different voice had squeaked out. Both boys turned their heads to the left. Jack squinted to see who it was, while Daniel was just met with a brick wall. But with what he heard, he could tell that it was Zach.
"Zach?" Both Daniel and Jack said together. Jack turned to face the brunette now, while Zach piped up at hearing Daniel's voice.
"Daniel?" Jack and Zach said after.
"And Jonah. Where are we exactly?" A different person said next. Looking diagonally in front of him, Daniel could see that it indeed was the older friend.
"I don't know."
"Wait, where's Corbyn?" Jack said with worry. He grasped the bars to his cell and gripped them tightly. And before any of them could give a simple answer, a loud scream was heard. All boys turned their heads hoping to locate the sound, but were all met with nothing. Eventually doors opening was heard, making the four teens even more curious to what may be happening. But as soon as seeing their bleached blonde friend being thrown in front of their cells they gasped.
He looked terrible. He had a bruise forming on his right cheek, while a few cuts littered his face and arms. And considering he landed on his stomach all the boys could see that he had a huge gash on his back. It looked as if someone took a whip and took a great big strike at his back. Daniel bent down and reached his arm out. He was able to place his cold hand on Corbyn's pale arm. The blonde tensed at the touch, but relaxed when seeing it was just Daniel. Why didn't any of them feel his pain? They should be just as bruised as he is.
"What did you do to him?" Jonah growled as a cloaked figure still stood with them and watched over. The person started chuckling, before dropping his hood. The four boys instantly started fuming with anger upon seeing who it was.
"He got what he deserved. After all, I never did give him a beating for stealing my girlfriend a couple years back. We could call it even" Dominic smirked evilly. Jonah hit his hands on the bars of his cell, while panting heavily. His glare could kill.
"When I get my hands on you, I'm not hesitating to throw you into a wall" Jonah spoke, clenching his fist so that they began turning white. Dominic cackled while walking up to Jonah's cell. He made sure to kick Corbyn's horrid form; causing a whine of pain to escape his pink lips. The blonde devil and Jonah locked eye to eye.
"Try me" Dominic whispered. And just as Jonah was swinging his arm around to possibly grab his blonde step brother, he dropped to the ground in pain. His cell began to glow red, while the bars sparked yellow. Jonah yelled out in agony. Zach moved closer highly concerned.
"No stop! You're hurting him!" Zach shouted. His big dough eyes grew at the horror. Dominic just turned to face the pale boy. He beamed with a dark aura before stepping to Zach's cell. He grabbed the boy by the face, causing Zach to whine sheepishly.
"You're lucky I didn't kill him" Dominic shoved Zach back. He landed with a grunt, while not taking his eyes off of the blonde. Dominic looked at all of them. "That's the darkness' job."
And with a snap of his fingers, Corbyn was locked away in his own cell. Jonah stopped groaning and now lay panting, trying to regain his breathing to a steady pace. Dominic was gone and they were left in silence.
"Are you okay Corbyn?" Jack asked and looking to the cell that was located on Daniel's right.
"Uh, y-yeah. I'm just gonna stay on the ground though. It kinda hurts to move, you know. But um, other than that I'm swell" the bleached blonde said back, taking deep breaths here and there.
"What about you Jonah? Still alive?" Jack said lightening the mood a little, as he heard a soft chuckle from the others.
"I'm fine. My insides feel like jello a little bit, but fine. We seriously need to get out of here" Jonah replies quietly. That was the only thing Daniel could think about really. Wanting to escape and take down whoever this darkness is.
"Uh guys, look out your windows" Zach hollers with worry. The boys did their best to look out the windows; but when they did they gasped. The sky was glazed over with green and grey smoke. Everything looked so much darker. Some people were running and hiding, while others were getting attacked by the same cloaked figures. It was a terrible sight, as sirens and people screaming were so much clearer. "If we plan to escape, then we better do it fast."
"How? Out there we are guarded by many soldiers. We be glad to even make it out the door" Corbyn pipes up. All the boys agreed before sitting down trying to think something over.
"What if we caused a distraction?" Daniel wondered finally speaking.
"What?"
"I mean, we all say that we gotta use the bathroom or something. They're gonna have to let us out to pee" The brunette explained further, hoping they would catch on. Zach rolled his eyes though and sighed.
"You must think those guards are idiots. They're not going to let us out all at once" the youngest said right back. Daniel frowned.
"And you are exactly right Zachary. I can see why you're the smart one" a different voice had rang throughout their ears. All the boys perked and looked to see who it was. It was another hooded figure. Or at least the one they can tell is the leader of the darkness. Zach squeaked out, before backing away from his cell door. The darkness chuckled.
"What do you want with us?"
"God, I'm starving."
Both Daniel and Jack said together. Daniel looked at Jack with a straight look. The curly haired boy just shrugged.
"Sorry."
"Oh and you five are supposed to be the ones to take me down?" The darkness questioned with a snicker. "I'll make it easier for you."
"What?" Corbyn asked.
Drawing back his hood, the darkness allowed his features to show. He put on a evil grin, while looking at each and every single one of them. It's just the last reaction was the best. It being Daniel, he held so many emotions. Mostly hurt.
"Dad?"
