CHAPTER 25:
GETTING HER BACK

"Do we seriously have to do this? I mean it was nice knowing your mom and al-"

"Corbyn!"

"Sorry."

It was all of five of them. Their guardians and Logan. They all decided to stick together and fight the darkness off together. It could work if they put their minds too it. But for some reason, Daniel was beginning to have second thoughts. Yeah, he wanted to save his mother, but then again what if he hurts the others again. He doesn't think he would be able forgive himself a second time. It's not like he even forgave himself the first time. And being one of the people in the front guiding everyone he stopped right in his tracks. Everyone stopped behind him with confused expressions.

"Daniel?" The soft tone of Zach spoke while placing his hand on the brunette's shoulder. Daniel just simply hung his head low and sighed. The minute he took a deep breath in, he turned to face the others.

"Maybe you all should just go home and stay safe" Daniel muttered.

"What? No."

"Don't have to tell me twice."

Both Zach and Jack said at the same time. Zach glared in Jack's direction before the curly haired boy just shrugged. He even tried to walk away, but Jonah grabbed him by the collar and brought him back. Jack huffed before crossing his arms tightly across his chest. Corbyn patted his shoulder in sympathy, but Jack just shrugged his arm off obviously now irritated. And when he was irritated, he tended to become a hot head.

"Daniel, we're not leaving your side" Zach said and locking eyes with the taller boy in front of him.

"Zach's right. No matter how upset my son is" Jack's father said and pointing back at Jack. The curly haired male felt betrayed and just glared at his own dad.

"You die, we all die" Jonah's mother now pipes up and giving a warm smile.

"Hold the fuck up. I did not sign up to die" Logan said budging into the conversation.

"HE GETS IT!" Both Corbyn and Jack yelled together.

"Could you two shut up!? You two are going to stay here and fight. And if not, you're grounded for a month" Corbyn's mother now said with a strict face.

"But mommy" Corbyn whined.

"Not another word" she snapped back. Corbyn and Jack stepped back in defeat and frowned deeply. Jonah chuckled lightly, before mocking them.

"Anyway, I do think you all should stay back. I can handle this. I don't want any of you getting hurt again. If you really want to stay by my side, just stay here" Daniel explained almost begging that they don't follow.

"But Daniel-" Zach tried to say but was cut off.

"No Zach! You all are staying and that's final!" The brunette stepped back a few before aiming his hands at the ground. And with a simple thought he brought up a barrier. Zach reached his hand out and instantly jerked back when he felt a tiny shock. He then snapped his head up to Daniel with concern. "I'm sorry. But I gotta do this on my own" and he began jogging in the opposite direction hearing the shouts of protests from the others.

He didn't look back. He knew if he did then he would bow down to their requests, setting them free and allowing them to help. Even if it's risking their lives. So shaking his thoughts, he ran a hand through his light brown hair and sighed deeply. He was already at the place the Lord told him about. To be completely honest, it just looked like an old house with two random people wearing cloaks to guard the place. He quickly hid behind a bush. He lifted his hand and closed his eyes tightly. With a snap of his wrist and quickly opening his eyes, he could see that both guards were now lying on the ground groaning from pain. Daniel took it as his chance and quickly ran up into the house.

"Mom?" Daniel said aloud. Bad choice, because just then, he felt someone wrap their arms around his neck as if ready to snap it.

"Who are you?" The random stranger whispered into his ear. From what it sounded like, he could tell that it was a female. He didn't answer, but instead stomped on her foot and moved a few feet in front of her, ready to attack. She just hissed at the sudden pain, before throwing him a glare. "You're going to get me caught kid!" She growled, looking around as if preparing for something to jump out. Daniel lowered his hands and gave her a confused look.

"W-Who are you exactly?" Daniel wondered as he watched her look behind a wall, before quickly drawing back. She motioned for him to be quiet, along with moving to be next to her. The brunette did as told and placed his back behind a door, not even knowing what they were hiding from.

"Shay Mitchell. I work with the Lord and my partner Logan" she said quickly before turning to look at the teenage boy. "So again. Who are you?" Daniel shrunk under her harsh stare.

"Daniel. Daniel Seavey. I'm here to save my mother" he answered trying his best not to stutter. From the look she was giving, he didn't want to get on her bad side. He was afraid to even say something impolite in her presence.

"The Lord told me about you. Can't control your abilities, huh?" She snickered lightening her whole aura. Daniel blushed, looked down at his shoes. She just nudged his shoulder, making them look at each other. The brunette couldn't help but smile, making her return the look. "Don't worry. You have me. After all, I'm here to save your mother too. Apparently the Lord doesn't trust Logan that much. And honestly I don't blame him. Logan's very..." She trailed off not knowing the right word.

"Obnoxious?"

"I was going to say loud, but yeah" she looked away from the teenager and looked behind the wall again. "Come on" she said after and motioning for Daniel to follow. The two carefully and quietly walked around the room, trying their hardest on not wanting to get caught. And as soon as they passed a different room that was filled with boxes, a loud scream had echoed throughout the house. Daniel perked while moving his head in the direction of where the loud yell had came from. All he had seen was a white door, that had at least three locks on it.

Daniel rolled his eyes, before walking towards the door. His dad could be a real idiot. The door just screamed kidnapped person inside. Do. Not. Enter! He reached his hand out ready to open the door, but was stopped by Shay yelling.

"Daniel watch out!" The brunette turned around to only be thrown against a wall. He smacked his head against something hard, before falling straight to the ground. He could see in the distance, Shay trying her best to fight off three cloaked figures but failing to do so as they managed to restrain her. Soon Daniel's vision began to blur as ringing started to circle around his hearing. He suddenly felt numb, as he felt his body being lifted and carried. He would have tried to fight back, but had no energy to do so. With a light fading and him knowing he was going down a set of stairs, Daniel closed his eyes completely and let darkness corrupt him.

He quickly snapped his eyes open, while breathing heavily. He looked around taking alarm to his surroundings. And when he tried to get up and investigate where he was even more, he was pulled back. He turned his head to see that both his hands and legs were strapped down by metal bars. He struggled a little, hissing at the pain of the straps digging into his skin.

"Hi there son" a voice spoke while walking up to the teenage boy. Daniel instantly frowned. Then the frown turned into a glare, as he yet again struggled to be set free. "Let's begin shall we."
