Mishon
I got a good look at the girl as she came down the steps of the church. Damn if it wasn't who I thought it was. She still hadn't looked up to noticed my presence, she looked the same as the night I met her but she was different. She looked sad in the face not that same peaceful girl I seen before.
Once she was in my reach I reached out and touched her arm. "Nice to see you again Shi'day" I said. She looked up at me with sadness in her eyes, but also confused.
"It's me... Mishon" I said reintroducing myself figuring she forgot.
She nodded her head, and it seemed as though her mode her lifted a little "You remembered my name"? She said calmly.
"Why would I forget"? I said calmly. "You must have forgotten me tho".
"I didn't.... Just didn't expect to see you again" she said.
"I'm glad you did" I said with a smile.
She stared at me for a second "What are you doing here"? She asked.
"Pay my respects... Paula was like a mother to me" I said. We stared at each other, then I broke the silence again. "So was she ya aunt or something"? I asked.
She shook her head no "No... She's my mom".
My mouth slightly dropped. "Oh damn... Baby girl I'm sorry" I said.
She sniffled as her eyes watered "It's okay... I'm dealing with it" she said.
I nodded my head at her and watched as the tears rolled down her soft honey colored cheeks. I pulled her into a hug and let her cry it out on my shoulder.
Once she was stopped crying she pulled away from me and wiped her eyes dry. "I'm glad I bumped into you. I mean I know this is a fucked up way to see you again. But for all it's worth I'm glad I did" I said speaking facts.
She nodded her head with a small smile. "You'll be okay baby girl trust me I been there and I know it's hard when you lose someone close to you. And even tho the pain never goes away it gets easier" I said.
"Thanks" she said. I took her phone from her hand and put my number in it.
"You know if you ever need anything... To talk or anything you can call me or text me. No matter what I'm doing I'll stop and come to you I promise" I said.
She looked down before her eyes met mines again " Thanks for all you comfort. I really needed that" she said in a whisper.
I nodded. "Don't be a stranger... And remember what I said if you need me I'll be there no matter what" I said.
She nodded her head shyly and was ready to walk away but I wasn't ready to let her walk away from me just yet. I pulled her back and our eyes met again.
"Twice is a charm" I said reflecting back on the first day I seen her and let her get away.
She gave me a closed mouth smile "No... Your wrong. Three times is a charm" and just like that she walked away again never looking back.
At the end of the day I had no choice but to respect how she felt at this moment. Her whole family was going thru some shit beyond my control. I just hoped that she would take my advice and hit me up. For some reason I felt a connection with this girl and that was unusual because I never got that feeling for any female before.
