Chapter 23

               A few weeks later

     Mishon

Me, Shi'day and her little brother Rapheal were down at the courts playing ball. We had already played a few games and was on another one. Shi'day looked so cute she was dressed in hooping shorts and a white belly shirt that showed off her belly ring, a snapback on backwards and a pair of Jay's.

"Shoot Mishon" Rapheal yelled knocking my concentration off Shi'day. I shot the ball in the court and watched as she poked her lip out putting her hand on her hips.

"Y'all cheating" she said.

"Nah babe you just can't beat us" I said as me and Rapheal laughed, shaking hands.

Soon as I turned my back she ran up and jumped on my back. We started play fighting before I grabbed her up and attacked her with kisses.

"Get a room" Raphael laughed, holding the ball at his hip.

"Aye bruh don't be mad" I laughed.

Shi'day chuckled "Yeah don't be mad... You need a girl ya self".

"I got a girl" Raphael said laughing.

"Yeah right what's her name"? Shi'day asked.

"None ya" Raphael said still laughing.

"Yeah cause you don't have one" Shi'day said still chuckling.

"Well maybe if you had some friends I could hit on I would have a girl" Rapheal said laughing as he shot the ball.

"Boy even if I had friends they wouldn't want ya boney ass" she joked.

"Why you gotta be so mean"? Rapheal joked.

We had a good ass time down at the court, this had been like the fifth time I had chilled with Raphael he was cool as shit just like Shi'day. We spent a couple more hours at the court then took them home. I went home showered and Changed my clothes then I hit Shi'day and told her I was on my way back. When I pulled up she was outside waiting for me... Damn she looked so good I had to control myself. She wore a pair of skinny jeans, a white fitting shirt with her short leather jacket over top and a pair of boots. Her long hair hung down to the middle of her back and she wore a little makeup, my baby looked sexy.

                                                       At my mother's house:

We stepped up on the porch and before I could reach for the door she gently rapped her arm around mines. I looked down at her with a smirk, she was nervous.

"Baby relax... She's gonna like you just like I do" I said, her tensed body seemed to relax a little after I said that.

We walked in and the smell of food hit my nose. Mom had cooked dinner which was good because I was straving. Mom appeared from the kitchen and welcomed me with open arms. I hugged her, still holding on to Shi'day's hand.

"Hello son... I thought you would be late like you always is" mom joked.

"Nah not this time" I said, I was actually super excited that she was meeting Shi'day so of course I was gonna be on time.

Mom waved me off and locked eyes with Shi'day.

"Hey I'm Shi'day" she said extending her hand.

Mom smiled and shook her hand "It's nice to meet you my son talks about you alot so I know your special to him".

Shi'day smiled and Glanced at me before looking back at mom "Well that's good to hear".

Mom stared at Shi'day as if she was studying her for a minute. "You look so familiar, What's ya last name honey"?

"Dawson... Shi'day Dawson" Shi'day said with a smile.

Mom's smile faded "Dawson"?

Shi'day's smile faded next, but me I stood there clueless.

"Mom let's eat" I said changing a subject before it happened. I didn't want Mom to start bugging and run Shi'day away.

Mom shot a fake smiled "Right" she laughed. "Let's eat... The food is finished" mom said walking off.

I lead Shi'day to the table and we sat down to eat. Mom had made fried chicken, mash potatoes, corn bread and green beans I was in heaven. Mom always cooked big dinner especially when she had company, she wanted everybody to know she was one of the best cooks. We talked a little, she got to know Shi'day more.

"So Shi'day are you in college"? Mom asked her.

"Umm... No... Not at this moment I was in college taking up nursing but I dropped out when my mother... Um" Shi'day was saying but she stopped herself. It was like she got quiet just that quick as she tapped her fork up and down on the side of the plate.

"She what... Left or something" mom asked as she stuffed mash potatoes in her mouth.

"She died" Shi'day said in a soft low voice.

Mom stopped chewing and sat quiet with a shocked face. I looked back and forth between mom and Shi'day trying to read both their expressions. "What happened to her if you don't mind me asking"? Mom asked.

"She was murdered" Shi'day said as if it wasn't really bothering her to say even though I knew her to well I knew it was crushing her inside. I looked up to see Mom staring dead in my face, she kind of looked mad but it was hard to tell. For the rest of dinner time we sat in silence all you could hear was our forks moving on the plate.

Mom stood up with her plate in her hand "I made chocolate cake for dessert. Son will you help me in the kitchen for a minute" she said walking away. I knew she was ready to ask me 21 questions because her whole mode had just suddenly changed and I know if I could sense it Shi'day could to.

"You finish baby" I asked her, she nodded her head with a smile. I took her plate and walked away to meet mom in the kitchen.

Soon as I stepped foot in the kitchen mom was standing there leaned against the counter waiting for me. She looked pissed off with her arms folded against her chest.

Damn... Here comes the bullshit
