Chapter 24

              Mishon

    I wasn't sure what was ready to leave my mother's lips but from the look she was giving me I knew it wasn't gonna be nice. I hadn't brought to many females around her so when i did i was expecting my mother to be on her best shit like she always was. Truth be told she barely liked anyone even down to my home boys so what she was ready to say about Shi'day wasn't gonna surprise me.

"Really Mishon... What are you thinking"? Mom asked looking at me with this crazy look.

"What i do"?

"Do you even know who you brought to my house?? Do you even know who your involved with Mishon" ? She asked me in a whispered voice.

"Yeah I do she's my girlfriend" i said calmly as I leaned my back up against the counter.

"Oh she's ya girl... The daughter of Lawrence Dawson"my mom said with attitude as she twisted up her bottom lip.

"Mom chill out I know who she is and know who her father is" I said still calm. I didn't want Shi'day to hear what my mom was saying but the way she was going about the situation I knew Shi'day was bond to her hear her.

"Oh you do"? She questioned raising her eyebrows.

" Yes I actually just met him" I admitted.

She took a step closer to me with her finger up close to my face "Son I need you to listen to me...  Her father was the biggest Kingpin here... Some shit Happened and he just disappeared... that girl is trouble son and I promise you if you continue to deal with her you will be caught up in her trouble and I don't want you involved" mom explained.

               Shi'day

I couldn't believe my ears and what I was hearing, I was still seated at the table when I overheard Mishon's mother about me. At first I didn't want to seem like I was ease dropping but when I  heard my dad's name I had to see what the fuss was about. I got up and slowly walked towards the kitchen trying not to be heard or noticed. But when I heard her say I was trouble I had to step in. I came around the corner and they both paused and looked at me.

"I'm bad news for Mishon or am I not just good enough for ya son"? I asked with my arms crossed innocently over my chest as I stared her in her eyes. I wasn't about to be rude to his mom that wasn't me but I wanted to know why she felt this way about me.

"Baby go..." Mishon said trying guide me back out the kitchen.

I stood firm and looked up at him "No this conversation is about me I wanna know why" I said calmly before looking back at his mom.

"Honey it's not so much you... I knew ya parents and ya father was such a nice man" his mom tried to say in the nice way but I still wasn't catching her drift.

"How so"? I asked Confused. I looked over at Mishon,he was eying his mother with a blank stare.

"Ya father was a bad man... The things he use to do wasn't right... Like I was just telling my son here, Lawrence... Ya father... Use to run these streets as one of the biggest Kingpins in Chicago" she said.

I raised my eye brows and smiled with a small laugh "Oh no I'm sorry you must got the wrong guy... My father is a good man he owns his own business".

"That maybe now baby but I know the old Lawrence and how he got down" she said staring me deep in my eyes.

"Ard Ma that's enough" Mishon said fed up with comments about my dad. Frankly I was to, she didn't know my dad like I do and I knew for a fact she had the wrong person. My dad was a good man and he always have been.

I couldn't stand to even look at her no more, I walked out the kitchen so fast and headed for the door.

"Shi'day" I heard Mishon call after me, then I heard his mother say "Don't you chase after her son" she said but she didn't have to worry I was already out the door and half way down the street. I couldn't stick around and listen anymore of her go off about my family.
