Carlos's POV
"Mom!" I screamed, "No!"
The image of mom skinning Dude faded. My eyes snapped open, it was all a dream I told myself, as I petted Dude.
I got out of bed and opened my closet. Putting on my diner uniform.
"Carlos!" Granny called in the kitchen.
"Yes, Gran?"
"This is Ruby, my granddaughter." A young woman sat on the table, her hair was brown and she wore red all over.
"Uh..." I stuttered, "Nice to meet you Ruby."
Ruby smiled at me, "Carlos, Granny has told me so much about you."
"Hey." I smiled back, "Has Jay left yet?"
"Yeah." Granny nods.
My eyes widened, "Great! Now, I have to walk."
Dude walks in my room and barks at Ruby.
I tried to restrain Dude but my arm was too week. Dude jumped on Ruby's lap, sniffed her face, then licked it.
"Oh God I'm sorry Ruby!" I quickly apologize as I grabbed Dude, "He isn't usually this hyper..."
Ruby looked at Granny and they both started laughing.
"Carlos, I'm a werewolf." Ruby chuckled, "No need to apologize for your dog's behavior, I've done worse."
"Oh ok," I guessed, "I need to go to work." "Come on boy," I patted my knees, "ready for a walk?"
Dude immediately tugged on the leash that hung by the door when it finally fell he grabbed it and placed it on my feet.
Ruby looked at Dude, "Taught him that trick?"
I smiled.
"Mind if I tag along?" she asked.
I shrugged, "Sure."
Ruby grabbed the leash and attached it to Dude's collar. Dude, then, lead us out.
On the way to the diner Ruby and I got to talking. We got a lot more in common than I initially thought.
"So your mother's Cruella De'Ville," she breathed, "the woman who wanted to kill puppies to make coats?"
"Yes," I nodded, "and your mom is the queen of the werewolves?"
"Uhuh." she nods, "We sure have come a long way to prove that we are not our parents, haven't we?"
"I guess so." I smiled, "Can I tell you something?"
She looked at me skeptical, "Sure."
"Do you believe that dreams and nightmares, can come true?" I looked at her, "I had this weird nightmare where my mom came back to life and made Dude into a coat."
She stared at me.
"I know, crazy..."
"No, it isn't." she insisted, "Carlos, you need to tell Archie this." her eyes were full of fear.
"The cricket?" I asked.
"He's a Psychiatrist." she frowned.
"Ok," I sighed, "I'll go see Archie."
"Thank you!" she gave me a hug.
"Who's the hotty?" Jay asked.
"Jay, I'd like you to meet Granny's granddaughter, Ruby." I introduced, "Ruby my best friend, Jay."
Jay stuttered with his apology, "I'm so so sorry, Ruby... I didn't... I mean..."
"Its fine." Ruby smiled.
Jay punched me, "You didn't warn me!"
"How was I supposed to know?" I whined.
"Let's just go in..." Ruby sighs, "and Carlos go to Archie and talk to him."
I did talked to Dr. Hoppers and he said it was normal I was afraid that my mother could come back to life. But was assured that wasn't possible. Or so I thought...
