Chapter 70

-ROSE'S P.O.V-

    I am hyperventilating. Shaking. Fucking hell.
"Jamie, you have to help me."
"You got this, Rose. You got this. You're not the only one fucking nervous." Jamie says.
"I know. Your wedding is in a month..."
"Jesus. Look how far we have come, guys."
"You said it, Abby. I'm getting married in a month. Rose is going to purpose tomorrow. Never once did I think we would make it here."
"And you are cancer free." Abby adds.
"And that." Jamie smiles.
"I mean, I have what I want to say. My mom is coming tomorrow. She is going to support me, us. And I'm fucking terrified."
"Oh come on, Rose. You have more balls than any of us."
"Oh thanks, Abby." I roll my eyes.
"You can do it. You have my blessing. Moms. And she will say yes. I already know she will."
"But how? Like do.. I let your cousin light off a fountain.. And while she's watching I get on one knee?"
"FUCKING YES. YES. YES. DO IT. JAMIE YOU BETTER RECORD IT." Abby yells.
"Ly will be."
"So that's how? And if she doesn't say yes?"
   She will. Don't worry... don't worry... She will... right?.. fuck.
"She will."
"And you're sure?"
"Positive, Rose." Jamie smiles.
"Now. Mom, Ly and Zee will be back with food and the fireworks. Our family will come in tomorrow. Abby, I love you but it might be time for you to head back to Mikeyboy before he wonders where his fiancee is." Jamie says.
"Oh god."
"What?" I ask.
"I keep forgetting."
"HOW CAN YOU FUCKING FORGET THAT?" Jamie yells in question.
"I didn't ever picture myself to get married!"
"You think I did?" Jamie questions back.
"Or me proposing?" I ask.
"We really have all grown up, haven't we?"
"Yeah, boo. I think so." Jamie hugs Abby, then I do.
    She waves before heading out.
"I'm fucked."
"You're about to ask to marry into this family. Of course you are. But you can't change who you love, can you?"
"Nooooo."
    The door opens again. My love. Jamie's love. And my soon to be my mother in law. Who smirks at me from behind Zee.
   Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
   Jamie jumps Lynn as soon as Lynn puts the bags down.
"Hey, Koala."
"Hey, baby."
   They're so cute. So, so, so adorably sickly cute.
   I help bring the bags in the kitchen, Zee grabs my hand and pulls me into a kiss. I hum in happiness into the kiss.
"Hey babygirl." I pull back.
"Hey, Ro." She kisses me again quickly. "So mom said she wants to talk to you. Sounds like you're in trouble."
"Uh-oh."
"What did you do?"
"I don't even know this time, ZZ."
"Last time wasn't my fault! You're the one that got the cake batter on the ceiling."
"No. You made it explode, ZZ. Totally on you."
   She smirks, knowing I'm right. She brings me in for another kiss before pushing me off.
"Go. She might get mad if I keep you."
.. She won't... most definitely won't.
   I walk off. Jamie taking Zee and making her watch a move with her and Lynn to give me time to talk to mother dearest.
"How are you going to do it?"
"Uh. Maybe have a cousin do a fountain.. And while she isn't paying attention.. drop to knee."
"Oh god that's going to be so cute."
   I laugh. "Pardon French. But fuck am I nervous. What if she says n"
"She will say yes." She cuts me off.
    I bite my lip. Thinking... before speaking. "And if I choke?"
"If you love her, you won't."
"Does everyone in this family play that card?"
"Yep."
"Obvious. Well... in hopes I don't choke and die.. by this time tomorrow, she will be my fiancee."
"I'm so happy for my girls."
"And I'm dying."
   She laughs at me me for pulling me in a tight hug. "You will do just fine."
   I feel nervous. Like I haven't even. But I have had this planned.. for like a year... And I'm dying.
"Come on. Let's eat and head to bed. We have a day ahead of us tomorrow."
"I'm going to die, Dee. I'm going to die."
"You'll do fine."
   She pats my back and sighs.

   My thoughts are racing. Racing so, I don't think I can go to sleep. And Zee is already out cold.
   Jamie and everyone promises that she will say yes. But I'm terrified. Like completely and utterly fucking terrified. I'm shocked Zee can sleep on my chest with my heart beating so loud.
   I guess.. I guess... I should try and sleep. But I'm terrified of tomorrow..
   After what seems like hours of my mine racing, I finally go to sleep.
 
    I take knee.
"Zee. Will y"
"Yes." She cuts me off.
"Will yo"
"Yeeees." She cuts me off again.
"Jesus, babygirl. Let me finish."
"Okay... sorry.."
     I take her hand.
"Zee James, I am giving you all of me and asking for all of you. Never once in almost 5 years have I doubted my love for you. And never once will I. I need you in my life. You are my completion. Will you marry me, Zee?"
"YES."
    I slip the ring on her finger with my promise ring. She falls to me, I catch her as we fall back. Tears soak my shirt quickly.
"Babygirl, don't cry.."
"Happy tears, Roro."
   I hold her tightly. Her whole family in aws and cheers for me.
   And then... a man comes from behind a truck..
"D..Dad?.."
"Hey, Rosie."
   Zee gets off of me, helps me up and I run to my dad.
"DADDY!"
    He catches me and spins me around.
"Made it just in time to meet my daughter in law."
    ...
   
"Babe?"
"Hm?"
"Ro?"
    I slowly open my eyes to a very worryful set of bright blue eyes.
"Why are you crying?"
"I'm crying?"
"In your sleep."
    I smile to the dream. Feel a little sad... But smile.
"I'm good, baby. It was a good dream."
"Come on, Ro. I want to scare Jamie with the firecracker grade poppers."
"YES. LET'S GO."
"Need to possibly get dressed first."
"Aw. Can't do it naked, ZZ?"
"No."
"Damn."
    She kisses my cheek before getting up. We get dressed and sneak upstairs. No one is awake yet.
"Let's have some fun." She whispers.
   I hold down a laugh as she fishes for the poppers. She wiggles her eyebrows as she hands me one box.
   We sneak upstairs to Jamie's old room. Quiet as ninjas. You spend enough time with Sam, you learn a few things.
"Ready?" She mouths.
   I nod. She quietly opens the door. Jamie looks so cute laying on Lynn. Too fucking bad.
   Zee holds her fingers in count.

   We both throw it at her wall.
   Jamie screams bloody murder. Lynn looks like she saw a ghost.
"YOU FUCKING TWATS." Jamie gets up, in boxers and sports bra. No shame.
"Uh, ZZ. Might be time to run."
"YEP." We run.
"GET BACK HERE YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES!" Jamie yells at us and runs after.
   We end up running all the way down the street. She's still chasing us.
"BABE. WE'RE GOING TO DIEEEE. I DON'T WANT TO DIEEE TODAY!!!"
"Keeep running, Ro."
   We make a uturn and lock Jamie out of the house. Except we forgot one factor.
"Oh hey guys. What's up?"
"Heya.. Lynn..."
   Her hands.. behind her back. We're back against the door.
"Zee.. whatever happens, I love you."
"I love you too."
"And it's your fault."
"DON'T BLAME MEEEE."
"So, guys. I got a present for you." Lynn has a crooked smile.
"ZZ... I think we're fucked."
"Yes, Rose." Lynn's smile grows.
    The back door slides open. A very pissed Jamie stomps in. Dee comes down the stairs.
"Oh, babe. How perfect."
"Yep, totally fucked." Zee grabs my hand.
   In a split second Lynn pulls out a water gun. A mega water gun and starts shooting us.
   I start screaming and so does Zee.
"SURRENDER. WHITE FLAG WE SURRENDER." Zee screams.
"NOPE."
"THAT'S FUCKING COOOLLLLDD."
     I feel so cold, like I would in the fucking winter but it's 80 out.
    The water runs out. And my teeth are chatteting, so are Zee's.
"The fuck is in that?"
"Icewater payback, bitches." Lynn smirks.
"My house is full of children. A bunch of crazy fucking children." Dee walks over to us.
   She takes the gun from Lynn.
"Who started it?"
   They point at us. I point at Zee.
"Betrayal." Zee smacks my hand away.
"Lynn, please clean the mess up."
"Sure, Dee."
"And next time this happens... at least count me in. I like to have fun too you know."
   We all laugh. Zee and I go change.
"Babygirl"
"Baaaby."
"Babygirl."
"Zee."
"Zheee."
"ZZ."
"RED."
    She looks over at me.
"I'm sorry."
"It was actually fun."
"W..what?"
"I'm not mad."
    I groan. "But you ignored meeeee."
"So."
   She walks over and presses a kiss to my lips. I kiss back quickly before she pulls back. I smile cause soon I will be kissing my fiancee.
"Come on. The family is waiting."
    My possibly soon to be family. Our.
"Okay."
  
    My mom pulls me in a tight hug. Whispering to me in the embrace.
"You ready?"
"No. Absolutely not."
"You'll do great baby."
"Thanks, Mom. I hope so."

    And on cue, the sun begins to set. Her cousin lights off a fountain like asked. Zee is focused on the purple and pink that shoot out.
   Lynn is in a chair, her camera on me as I take knee.
"ZZ..."
    She turns to me. Her eyes wide. Beautiful... beautiful bright blue eyes.
"Zee James, I am giving you all of me and asking for all of you. Never once in almost 5 years have I doubted my love for you. And never once will I. I need you in my life. You are my completion. Will yo"
"YES." She cuts me off.
"Will you m"
"YES."
    ...its.. just like my dream.
"Babe, let me finish."
"Okay, okay... sorry."
"Will you marry me?"
"YEEEESSSS"
   Everyone around us cheer as I slip the ring on her finger. She falls against ne, I hold onto her tightly. Also like the dream she soaks my shirt in tears.
"Babygirl, don't cry. I didn't mean to make you cry."
"They're happy tears."
   Everyone aws. I hold her close. A figure behind a truck comes out.
   No... I am dreaming again.. n..no.
"D..Dad?"
