AN: Before I go any further, Kaldur will not be seen or mentioned much in this book, since I've decided he'll be in Atlantis, helping the citizens and being with Garth and his King, Aquaman. I'll try to put him in later in the series, but I really don't know...
Artemis looked down at Bart, his excited greenish blue eyes lit with happiness. Looking to M'gann, who came walking into the room, the blonde said calmly, pointing to the short, brown haired speedster, "Please tell me he didn't eat anything with sugar, M'gann. If I have to listen to his repetitive feet bouncing at my wedding, it's going to drive me insane." The young Martian blushed, then said, "I may have accidentally left the cookies for Wally out on the counter unattended for five minutes. Speaking of which, where is he? You are getting married to Wally! Why isn't he here to prepare with Conner or Dick, since Kaldur is in Atlantis?" Artemis replied, giving a heavy sigh, "Well apparently, Dick ran into an issue on his patrol in Bludhaven, that needed Wally's speed, and he had the nerve to call my fiancé, and ask him to run down there to check it out. I just don't understand how a Bat can be in such dire need of a speedster, when they practically rule the entire spectrum of swiftness! And on our wedding day at that! Dick knows this is a big day for both his best friend and I. We all grew up together, so I would have thought, he'd be smart enough to at least give Wally and I some private time before the actual ceremony, and before the rest of Wally's normal, overprotective family, shows up in Keystone! It makes no sense whatsoever!" Her words coming to a grinding, yet harsh end, Artemis looked at M'gann's wide eyes. M'gann asked, "Artemis... am I sensing you're a little jealous that Wally's family is overprotective? I mean, if you are, then you have a perfectly good reason to pull him away from his family for some intimate time alone. Although, your reactions could be because you are stressed, since this is the day. I know my three sisters were a little stressed on their wedding day, so it's perfectly okay to feel that way." Artemis said, "I'm not jealous and I'm not stressed, M'gann. It's just... I want this day to be absolutely perfect. I've been waiting for two months, since he proposed to me on the Eiffel Tower and since he returned from the Speedforce. This is a huge step in our lives. After today, I can officially call and sign documents myself as Artemis Lian West, not Crock. After today, I won't be known as the daughter of assassins; I'll formally and properly be the wife of the fastest man alive. That's so important to me. I just hope everything goes according to the way Wally and I have been planning it. I don't want a single thing to go wrong." M'gann assured Artemis, saying, "I'm sure everything will go according to plan. Just you wait and see. It'll be perfect. Now you should go get on your dress, so we can do your hair as soon as possible." Artemis asked, "We?" M'gann said, "Oh, well I asked Zatanna to help out with doing your hair, since she's got magic and is pretty good with doing buns and stuff like that, but she backed out at the last minute, so I'm doing preparations." Artemis replied crossly, "Yeah, the hair in a bun thing? Not gonna happen. Not in a million years. I don't do buns. Besides, the veil fits better and Wally likes my hair more when it's down. It's staying down, got it?" M'gann raised her hands in a defense, then replied, "Oh sure, sure! We should start soon though..." Artemis laughed, then headed to her dorm, with the Martian in tow. When they arrived, Artemis went to her closet, and drew out a beautiful, floor length white dress with single spaghetti straps, a slightly open chest area, and a minimal amount of lace on it. Stepping into the bathroom, the blonde removed her civvies, and slipped on the dress, being sure to zip up the back, before she slid on her pantyhose, and a pair of white flats. Opening the door, the bride stepped out, and smiled at M'gann, who exclaimed, "Oh wow! That looks amazing! Did Wally help pick that out for you?" Artemis nodded, and said, "Yeah, but he waited outside of the changing rooms, while I put it on. Something about not wanting to see his fiancé bare, until things were actually official. That's why he's so perfect. He is such a gentleman, and doesn't want to break the rules before the wedding. I'm guessing it's because he was raised right, with dignity and respect." M'gann joked, "Funny, when he crushed on me, it seemed he wanted to be everywhere I was, even the bathroom." Artemis replied, "That's because when that happened, he was a girl crazy teenager with hormone issues, that he probably had no control over. Now, he's a mature twenty one and is out of the Speedforce, with respectable signs that that old lifestyle isn't his anymore. Now, I would start to worry about Bart, since he is at that age where that kind of adoration for women is almost nonstop." Both girls laughed, as Artemis took a seat on her bed, and M'gann sat facing the blonde's hair. Grabbing Artemis' brush from the nightstand, M'gann began to brush the blonde's hair, long and carefully. As they sat on the bed and took care of hair and makeup, they talked about the last two months. For some reason, Artemis hadn't really gotten the chance to talk with M'gann much, since Wally had returned and they had finished school together. She relished the time with the closest thing she had to a real, non-assassin sister. As time began to pass, Artemis looked at the clock on her bedside, and exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, M'gann. We should probably leave. I have to be at the church before everyone else gets there." The Martin replied, "Well, then it's a really good thing that there's a Zeta-tube, near the church. Standing up, Artemis slid off the bed, and went to the door, saying, "Well come on! We're going to be late." M'gann asked, "Artemis, are you sure you're doing okay? Aren't you forgetting something? Something that may keep the crowd from seeing your face, until the actual time when you and Wally are at the front of the church?" Artemis replied, "Oh man, the veil! I can't believe we almost left without it! That's why I'm so glad to have you as one of my bridesmaids, M'gann. You always remember the smallest details." The girl shrugged, and said, "Part of being a Martian with the strongest mental hold, is remembering things like a veil for the bride." Scurrying to the Zeta-tube, Artemis didn't even take notice that she was wearing her dress and running in it, to make things more difficult. Entering her number into the Computer, she was soon Zeta'd off to Keystone, with M'gann carrying the veil, in tow.
