Chapter #15

Evelyn was hard at work. Keeping the fires going, making metal pieces that can be used to make the spiders, and some wiring.

She was covered in soot and sweat. She was tied but she had to keep going.

CRASH!

The noise startled Evelyn and she pocked the screwdriver in the wrong spot, shocking herself. She winced and looked over and saw tools and metal on the floor. The blonde guy was yelling at Tony.

"Wrong! All wrong!!" He yelled.

"What's the problem?" The boss walked over with his toothpick in his hand.

"He made it all wrong! I showed him three times!"

"Tisk tisk. Not okay. Time for a punishment."

Evelyn got out of her seat and ran over to his side.

"No! Let me take his punishment instead!"

They looked at each other with a smirk. Then back at Evelyn.

"Fine. But you're getting double." The boss put his toothpick back in his mouth and grabbed Evelyn by the wrist and pulled her as he started to walk.

He took her down a hall on the left wall into a small room on the right. He opened the door and they both walked in, and he throw her on the ground. She landed on her stomach with a groan. He closed the door.

"Think you're being a hero?"

She shakily looked up at him.

"No. I'm just being kind."

"Kind gets you hurt."

"I was going to get hurt anyways."

"Perhaps."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small remote. He turned a knob and then pressed a button.

Evelyn's bracelet activated. It started shocking her. She squirmed around groaning. She tried not to yelled but small noises escapes her mouth. The shocks got a bit worst. 2 minutes went by and the shocks stop. Evelyn was relieved as she laid on her side panting.

"Stay here for a minute. Can't have you working like this. But only a minute." He left.

Evelyn crawled over to the wall and leaned on it. She took a second before she reached into her pocket.

Yuma and Daniel spend the day together. They went back to the alley to look for clues.

"We're not going to find anything." Yuma said.

"Why would you say that? My sister is gone and this is the only thing I can do to help."

"Okay."

They started looking again. After a while, Yuma's pocket started ringing.

"Oh man. I bet it's Cari wondering where I am."

"Don't tell her I'm with you."

"Yeah."

He pushed it and the ringing stopped.

"Hello?" He said.

"Yuma?" Said a girls voice.

Yuma looked closer to see Evelyn.

"Evelyn!" Yuma yelled.

Daniel's head shot up.

"Evelyn!" Dan ran over.

"Shh. Not so loud. If they see me I'm in trouble." She groaned.

"Evelyn, what happened? Where are you?" Yuma asked.

"I'm not sure where we are. An old ware house I think."

"Do you know where?" He asked again.

"No. I don't. Maybe an hour or so out of the city."

She took a breath.

"Evelyn, are you okay?" Dan asked worried.

"Yeah. I'm fine."

"Why can't to just leave?" Yuma asked.

"I can't." She held up her wrist. "If I try to leave, I'll get shocked. If I do anything they don't like, I'll get shocked. If any kid does anything wrong, I'll get shocked."

"Those were banned. They're still being made?" Dan said.

"Yeah. The company still has people who want them. The kids are workmen."

"Don't worry. We'll get you out. I promise." Dan said.

She slightly smiled. She turned her head to the door and back at them.

"I have to go. They're coming." She ended the call.

"We will find you. And that promise I won't break." Dan thought.
