Chapter 17

Tom's POV
We were almost done this tour with Courtney's band. It went by quick and we only had about five more stops and then it would be over. I wonder if she came to a decision yet about what I asked her. Who knows I haven't seen her all day though. I sighed and closed my eyes as the flashbacks between Bill, Courtney and I kept appearing in my head. What made me act like this when I was younger I have no idea. Maybe it was the fact that I wanted Bill for myself, I didn't feel like sharing my twin, maybe I just wanted to let my anger out on her for Bill and I's parents divorcing. I will never know the reason.

Flashback 1
Bill and I were 10 and Courtney was 5. We were hanging out with Georg and Gustav. Georg was playing bass. And I was playing guitar, Gustav was hitting a log with his drum sticks as Bill was singing. We were just playing around a campfire since it was winter, while Mom and Gordon went out and left us in charge of Courtney which I was not thrilled about. I get it she was five but why couldn't they take her with them.
"Bill you want to play with me?" Courtney asked.
"In a few minutes." Bill said brushing Courtney off nicely.
"What about you Tomi?" Courtney asked
"Nein!" I yelled at her.
"Why not?! You never play with me!" Courtney said and touched my guitar. I don't know what happened but I lost it when she touched my guitar and grabbed her by the shirt. She screamed in fear as I lifted her off the ground and glared at her.
"Never touch my guitar without permission! Understand?!" I yelled at her and tears started forming I her eyes.
"Sorry." Courtney said in fear. I then threw Courtney to the ground and continued to play as I ignored the looks of my brothers and band mates and I ignored Courtney's cries.
"You're a big meanie!" Courtney said and kicked me. I was about to get up and push her but she ran over to hide behind Bill.
"Ignore Tom, Courtney. Tell you what how about you and I make some snow angels?" Bill asked Courtney.
"Really?!" Courtney asked excitedly and I groaned.
"Yeah come on!" Bill said and picked up Courtney and walked away from our jam session to play snow angels with Courtney. I sighed and joined in with Georg and Gustav but decided to have a snow ball fight instead. We played outside until we were freezing and went inside for hot chocolate.

Flashback 2
Bill and I were 8 and Courtney was 3. It had been a year since dad left and both Gordon and Courtney entered Bill and I's lives. I was teasing Courtney practically all day today. It was so much fun. Mom wasn't home and Bill was out with a friend so he couldn't protect her.
"Give doll back!" Courtney yelled as she tried to jump for her doll that I was holding out of reach.
"Why? You don't need it?!" I teased
"Give it back! I play wif it!" Courtney said and tried to jump for it.
"Not anymore! You gotta catch me if you want it!" I said teasingly and ran away with Courtney's tiny feet trying to catch up with my long one's.
"Tomi! Give back!" Courtney yelled and tried to catch me as I ran around the house.
"It's right here" I said and turned around to face Courtney from the living room. I dangled the doll in front of me and she ran for it, but right as she got close I lifted it away and she bumped her head against the table. I continued to run thinking she would get up to continue running to get her doll but I didn't hear the patter of her feet. I retraced my steps back to the living room and found Courtney jerking on the floor. It looked like a seizure and I started freaking out. I quickly called mom.
"Hallo?" Mom asked
I was so scared that I didn't bother speaking German. "Mom! Courtney's having a seizure! What do I do?!" I asked frantic
"What?! How did that happen?!" Mom asked frantic.
"S-she bumped her head against the living room table." I said not having the courage to tell her the whole truth.
"Okay. Lay her on her side until the shaking stops. I'll be home as soon as possible." Mom said and just as I was about to hang up mom's words stop me.
"And Tom thank you for calling me to tell me that was very responsible." My mom said and I hung up feeling more guilty. I put Courtney on her side and waited for mom. Ten minutes later she was home and checking Courtney. We got in the car and headed to the hospital after we picked Bill up from his friends. Once there the nurse took her.
"Mom. I'm sorry." I said feeling guilty.
"It's not your fault Tom. You were watching her and she bumped her head that's all." Mom said and I shook my head.
"Nein! It's my fault! If Bill was home this wouldn't of happened. I was teasing Courtney with her doll and making her try and chase me to get it and she bumped her head when I didn't see. I didn't hear her following me anymore and found her on the floor. I'm sorry mom! If Bill was home he would have stopped me! This wouldn't of happened!" I said starting to cry.
"Tom! You should know better than to tease your sister!" My mom lectured me.
"Half sister." I said
"That doesn't matter! You should of known better! You are grounded! No guitar for a week!" Mom said
"But mom!" I said with tears.
"You deserve it!" Bill yelled at me.
"Bill!" Mom said
"What he deserves it! At least I actually treat Courtney like a sister. I swear Tom if anything happens to her I'll never forgive you!" Bill yelled at me. Just then the doctor came over and pulled my mother aside.
All I heard was thank you doctor.
Mom spent the night with Courtney and had Gordon come pick us up. I never knew what was wrong with my sister.

End flashback

"Tom!" I heard my name. I snapped out of it and saw Courtney in front of me.
"What did you say?" I asked
"I said I came to a decision." Courtney said.
"And?" I asked anxiously.
"I'll come live with you and Bill but you still have to let Peyton see his dad." Courtney said
"But sis!" I whined
"Please Tom just do this one thing. Peyton deserves to see his father." Courtney said
"Fine. That doesn't mean I like it." I said annoyed.
"Thanks Tomi!" Courtney said
"But if he steps out of line he's dead and don't call me Tomi!" I yelled annoyed.
Courtney kissed my cheek and ran off. I swear I will never understand her.
