Chapter 27

Courtney's POV
Merritt was really nice. He made me laugh and smile. But Yu could also do that and yet he hurt me. I had to be very cautious now. I was so scared of getting hurt. But I feel like I've seen Merritt from somewhere but where? I know we didn't grow up together so that wasn't it, but then what was it?
"I'm sorry I have to ask but I swear I have seen you from somewhere but I can't place my finger on it." I said and Merritt laughed.
"I'm from a band called Stitched Up Heart." Merritt said
"That's where I know you from! I love you guys!" I said with excitement in a voice.
"Haha I'm glad." Merritt said with a laugh.
"So where are we off to?" I asked Merritt.
"This really neat park. I like to come here and think sometimes." Merritt said and as soon as we walked up to the park I wanted to turn around. I saw Yu with Peyton and my brothers.
"Can we go somewhere else?" I asked sadly.
"Why? What's wrong?" Merritt asked concerned.
"Nothing. It's just-" I was about to say and then Peyton jumped in.
"Mommy!" Peyton said excitedly and ran over to me and I caught him in my arms.
"Hey Peyton. We're you good for your uncles?" I asked my son.
"Yeah! I always good mommy!" Peyton said and I laughed.
"Peyton this is Mommy's new friend Merritt. Can you say hi?" I asked Peyton as I faced him towards Merritt.
"Hi!" Peyton said happily.
"Hey buddy. Nice to meet you." Merritt said with a smile. There was a bit of an age difference between us but hopefully that wouldn't matter if we started dating but for right now we are just friends.
"Hey! Peyton why did you run off? Oh hi sis." Bill said and came over with Tom and Yu sadly.
"Hi Bill. Was Peyton good? Be honest." I said
"Yes. He's always good for Tom and I." Bill said with a smile.
"Who are you?" Tom said getting right to the point.
"Bill, Tom, Yu this is Merritt Goodwin. He showed me around LA a bit. Merritt these are my older brothers Tom and Bill and this is my um ex-boyfriend Yu Phoenix and Peyton's um dad." I said sadly.
"Nice to meet you. You have beautiful sister." Merritt said and I blushed.
"Yeah we know but don't think we'll like you right away. We have to inspect you first." Tom said
"Tom!" I said embarrassed.
"What?! We don't want another Yu incident." Tom said glaring at Yu who glared back.
"Don't worry your sister and I are just friends....for now." Merritt said and smiled.
"Good." Tom said and I slapped the back of his head lightly.
"Hey!" Tom said
"Be nice." I said
"Well I've got to go. It was nice meeting you guys. Here's my number Courtney. Let's meet up again soon." Merritt said and kissed my cheek and left with a wave.
I blushed.
"Awe someone's blushing!" Bill said
"Hn. She could do better." Yu said
"Someone's jealous." Bill said
"I am not!" Yu yelled
"Are too!" Tom said
"Am not! I'll see you tomorrow!" Yu yelled and left.
I sighed and then spent the rest of the day with my brothers and Peyton. I hoped everything would work out in the end.
