"Hold on!" Owen forcefully drags me away before shifting into a dusty-brown Griffin that flew up into the sky. My hands hold tightly to his neck, while my fearful eyes skimmed the high on flames trees. Other Earth Elementals shot up towards their freedom with some of their animal friends that could not run or were injured, it was a terrible view. Fire spread through parts of the bird nests and alongside the dry grass sticking out.
Screams of agonising pain filled the forest when a few regular animals were stopped by the viscous flames that formed a barrier.
Griffins carried buckets of water that splashed roughly over the power-hungry fire killing it slowly. It took about a hundred if not more buckets for the danger to seep down.
My hands held onto the soft feathers but my eyes were full of mourn. The once beautiful forest was left with deep wounds. Owen lowered us down and I quickly jumped off him looking around.
Everyone shifts into their human selves, "Our home. Abolished. Broken apart!" Bretta cried pulling her husband, Len close. Owen had an emotionless expression, the one that hid many meanings.
"Owen." I sympathised, he did not look at me or register my statement. I think he was figuring out what to do next.
"Take children and the elderly, we will move towards the north!" The Earth Prince panted as people under his command started to gather into groups. I search for my new friends in the crowd, hoping they were alright."We have an extra camp there, in emergencies like these." Owen explains to me with a weary sigh. I nod my head before stepping forward and taking hands of few children.
"What are you doing?" The Earth Prince questions moving towards me, his dark green eyes are perplexed. I croak out a small smile, "Helping." Owen offers a weak grin before he proceeds to do the same. He passes the leftover clothes to the younger males who carry them towards their new homes.
"Is he going to be okay?! Please somebody?!" I instantly recognised Caroline's voice, it was more pitched than any other time I heard her talk. When I spot her, she's sobbing uncontrollably near a small bed that had a injured person on the bunk.
"CHRIS?!" I yell out rushing to his side, the boy breathed heavily, his face is covered by sweat, the nasty burn runs along his right arm. There was even larger one on the side of his stomach, the red shirt he wore was completely burned.
The young boy barely opened his green eyes, a sly smile formed, "Please keep her away, she's hurting my ear-drums." Chris mumbles to me, and I look over at Caroline that cries even louder.
I sit gently next to him, the children ran off to their parents so I didn't have to worry about them.
"It hurts so much." Chris flinches uneasy, referring to the wounds on his body."You're going to be okay." I mumble, staring at him, but he looks long and content at Caroline that wails into the blanket.
"Promise you will keep her safe. For me. Please." Chris switches forest eyes to me and I feel my eyes moisten.
"You're not dying, stop saying that." I protested with a raised eyebrow. Chris chuckles then goes into a fit of coughs.
"It sure feels like it." Chris points his eyes to Caroline once again.
