Song of the Chapter: Over - HONORS

#26

Best way not to get your heart broken, is pretend you don't have one.

That was my motto for my wedding day.

I took a long  waited for ice-cold bath. It was just me and the ice cubes rolling around until I could not feel a single limb of my body. Getting hypothermia was a usual skin care procedure that the medical professionals within the Ice Lands have recommended - but that strictly to contain only the Ice Elementals since other wielders could not even survive in such low temperatures. But as for me, and the rest of population, cold was only beneficial. It made my pale skin appear much brighter and it sort of just added an incredibly fresh glow to it.

"Eira! Your dress is ready!" Anna's voice brought me to the surface and I exhaled strongly searching the bathroom for a new robe. When my eyes located the smooth soft piece of fabric, I let my body temperature return to normal and slowly but readily gained full control of my limbs. I tightened the body robe and exited with a new perspective on this whole event.

"Come on! You will be late!" I didn't even realise I was staring at myself in the mirror when Anna shook my shoulders and I was back in the reality. My sad reality. I've barely got any sleep last night, thinking about today was just not making it in any way easy. I was dragged down to the same ballroom where the Princes sat at a table discussing something.

"Ah here is my betrothed daughter!" King Darren yelled taking a big gulp of the drink in his hand. All of the Kings including the King of Earth, sat in a circle with their wives accompanying them.

"Come here sweetheart, have your first sip!" I wanted to shrink back from the eyes as they scanned over my outfit. There was complete utter silence from the table that the Princes were sitting at. Speechless, I joined my father at their own table and sat casually on the chair provided.

"I don't want to." I pushed the cup away from my face and the Kings shared laughs at my hesitance.

"It's only giggle water! Come have some, it's really good." I was once again pressured to have a taste but I politely declined. I had no intentions to get drunk for my wedding; and if I did, I was concerned for the things that might come out of my mouth. Because apparently, bubbly drunken blood was something that clearly ran in my family. The Ice King laughed along to something King Gabriel (Fire King) mumbled. They clinked their mugs together in cheer before gulping them dry.

I sat closer to Alayna who was inspecting a small singing group at the centre of the ballroom. Their music was strange and I haven't heard of such tone before, it was beautiful, the way melody would flow was incredible.

"Why is father acting so irregularly?" I asked her and she looked up gaining my attention, only shrugging her shoulders in response muttering something about how he always acts like this when he drinks too much.  Alayna was wearing a gorgeous dress made of thick white material. There were silver and diamond jewellery hanging onto her wrists and neckline making her even more stunning. Sometimes I felt agitated at my sister's looks. She had the beauty like none out there, which is why sometimes, no in fact, most of the times, males were simply walking up to her and starting to converse. Like one did right now. Which meant that Alayna was to ignore my existence like she has done most of the time, in order to, get to know the male better.

"May I have this dance, Princess?" I averted my gaze locating a pair of golden-brown eyes. Ray was smiling at me with an extended hand, and I took it because that should spare me embarrassment from another drink and my father.
