Song of the Chapter: Missio - Can I exist

#27

The madness occurring was overwhelming everyone occupying the ballroom. The air became so heavy, it was a struggle to breathe.

But I regained a cheerful position, as the Queen Beatrice called for silence.

"Don't mind the Kings! They have simply drank too much!" The Queen vouched raising her palms above her shoulders. But it seemed no one was listening.

"Giggle water was poisoned!" Someone screamed, I think it was one of the Earth Elementals who succeded in making the whole audience petrified.

"SILENCE NOW!" Individuals of every Elemental group attending where frozen on the spot, scarily watching the Queen as she folded her trembling arms at her lap and sat down on her chair.

"There is absolute no need for creating havoc and mass destruction inside my home! The Kings will come to their senses and soon awake themselves, it just a matter of time. We would never put anyone's lives in danger even more so poison our beverages!" There was no response from the crowd, they seemed to eagerly listen and hang to every word that the Royal female proposed.

"I am sadly disheartened that Nathan would have to spare this marriage as Elizabeth marries another.  Please, they're young and love sometimes takes it own toll on our children. I'm sure we can avoid war. Can't we Queen Sophia?" Heads turned to stare at the lady dressed in a beautiful blue gown. She flicked her eyebrow and stifled a laugh pointing an index finger to her beloved husband that remained passed out on a the wooden chair.

"I did say, it was a ridiculous idea in the first place. Off course, Water Kingdom has no harmful intentions. Although, my husband's viewpoint might differ from mine. But I speak from both of us, we respect Princess Elizabeth's decision." Queen Sophia cheered up the crowd who now has eased into a more relaxed atmosphere. Only I remained stiff as a board, my smile so fake, but on the inside I was screaming as loud as I could, the problem was - my mouth never opened.

"Did you really mean it?" Nathan was standing by my side with a pained look in his eyes. I nodded my head neutrally and smiled.

"I'm in love with Ray, sorry." The Water Prince looked away and nodded as if someone has played a big bad joke on him.  He felt lied to, I could see that coherently written on his face. I just wish I could openly admit that he wasn't the only one who felt that way. I was tricked right under my nose, I should have resolved on my previous mind-set; and that was never in life, trust a single soul. Because how could I trust a man, if I couldn't even trust myself?

"Well I'll see you around, if you ever need help with anything just pop into the Kingdom." He shrugged his shoulders like he didn't know what else to say, then stolled in the opposite direction. I watched him join the crowd of his civilians, never looking back at me. My eyes went narrower, suspiciously narrower. It was not just out of curtesy that the Water Prince just suddenly respected my decision. After all, Nathan was the one who pledged about the importance of bringing the two Kingdoms together - now it seemed like he did not even care. Surely maybe it was due to the sudden agreement between the Queen Sophia and Beatrice, but was not there something more to the situation than everyone was letting on?

"What happened?" One of the Kings muttered dragging a palm across his cheek. It has not been too long as the Royals rose from their slumped positions and scanned the gathered individuals with bewilderment that ignited my suspicions even further.
