When I entered the halls of the ballroom the next morning, I was greeted with emptiness. Not only the room was absolutely lifeless, no one was around to explain what was happening in the castle either.
"ANNA!" I yelled patiently waiting for my friend to respond to my urgent call. As expected, Anna was by my side in no longer than a minute. She panted out of breath, must be from running on the way here.
"Where is everyone?" There was a significant pause before Anna smacked her forehead in realization and panic.
"I'm very sorry, I forgot to inform you. Your father has cancelled today's date with Prince Skylar." At one angle I was thriving with relief, I was not thrilled to spend a day with the Prince. I mean what kind of date would a Darkness Elemental plan? Probably the one that involves a lot of doom and fears. On the other side it was clear that I needed to talk to him. Although I was feeling a lot more refreshed and healthier, the black veins was not my only problem. The shadow didn't portray an appearance it could strike any second of the day. Or maybe it was just on its day-off.
"Why is that?" I pondered still fussed with wild thoughts that had no intentions of leaving.
"He said there is something very important. King Darren is in his office at the moment, you might want to ask him for more clarification." I nodded my head and rushed for the door, just before I egress my head turns back to my loyal being.
"Thank you, Anna. You're the best." The girl laughs quietly and then I'm on my way to terrorise my dad's office, as per usual.
"What's going on, why is no one in the hall?" I stated when bursting in through the room my father occupied for at least 25/8 times a week. It was a nest with nothing but papers and documents, whatever he sas solving for so many hours kept him busy alright. I dreaded the days I have to be in his position. I mean we've surely settled on the fact that the only ruler to this Kingdom was bound to be me.
"Because we have dinner preparations to attend to this afternoon." King Darren declared not once glancing up from the fresh file that he quickly signed with a EXPO marker. The signature was bold and daring, hardly unnoticeable. I don't exactly know why the Ice King favoured the use of the black thick lines, there we more convenient stationaries available like pens and pencils.
"With who?" I sat on the cushioned chair opposite the table dad was working on. The pillow huffed under my weight as it always did, it was really just the air being squeezed out.
"Don't be silly, Eira, with Fire Royals off course." Not going to lie, I almost choked on my saliva. I gave it a few seconds, maybe father fated a joke - one that was entirely not funny.
"Since when do we dine with Fire Kingdom, father?" The King was continuing on with the paperwork; he must have predicted I would be fuming from head to toe as there was a bag of popsickles scattered around. I sunk my palm into the soft material grabbing several pink cubes and stuffing those between my gums.
"Since I almost executed Gabriel's only son? What is it with you today, so grumpy like you have never attended a Royal dinner before." I persisted to chew onto the blocks of ice to soothe my trembling nerves. Their numbing taste got left on my tongue, but I felt ready for the next set of words.
"I just assumed grabbing lunch with a Kingdom we clearly do not get along with was not on your agenda." Ice King chuckled slowly bringing a finger to his lips and swiping eagerly at his scruffy chin. He didn't have time to look presentable - he usually always did.
