There was a bunch of colorful words to describe how the competition started. Let's just say, the race was biased.
The Princes were set up specifically in different sectors of the maze where each one had to get to the finish line - whoever does is a winner obviously.

The reason I call the competition being unfair was because first of all, my father arranged which line gets who, he knew exactly which obstacles will greet who. Which is why he placed Nathan, Prince of Water, into the easiest section which had no polar bears, no poisonous plants but simply a bit of fire. Whereas other got to feel the whole complex.

I narrowed my gaze at my father who sat patiently staring at the screen. I flinched noticing how Owen got stumbled upon a Polar bear. I pried my eyes away, not wanting to watch.
I switched my gaze to King Darren, but his eyes were smiling down at every movement Nathan was making.

"Shouldn't you put the Water Elemental on the hardest section if you want me to marry him?" I managed to force out calmly. It was not fair to others. This was cheating.

"See, even you are beginning to understand how inevitable my decision is. Nathan is a perfect ruler for our land." The Ice King grinned going his retinas back to the digital screen. Did he even hear me at all?

Nathan was almost at the finish line whilst the other Princes weren't even half way there. Owen was struggling to stay out of the bear's grasp, when another one joined him. They circled the green eyed Prince like a snack - and you bet they were ready to fight for it.

I blinked rapidly as Owen missed being caught the closest he has so far. I realized he will be unable to escape once the bears blocked the exit and I had no idea whether my father would take the blame if any of them gets hurt - so I had to prevent that.
If Owen couldn't use his elemental powers - it did not mean I couldn't use mine.

I lifted my hand, barely noticeably, making sure no one was paying attention, I clicked my fingers, just enough to cover the surface that the Polar bears were standing on with black ice. There was a difference between normal ice and black ice. Normal ice was radiantly bright and so visible, whereas, the black acted like a camouflage - like a trap.

Just like expected the polar bears slipped to the ground, giving Owen enough time to squeeze past through the double doors.

Other boys were a bit more lucky with what they received. Ash ran right through the flames - they were unable to burn him otherwise he would be convulsing in pain on the ground. Skylar's tactic was a bit more impressive. He relied on silence and cautious steps when dealing with the polar bears - that is how the Prince of Darkness went through unnoticed.
Ray was dashing like a fish out of sea from the bears that were hot on his heels, but he coped fine when taking a sharp turn to his left - one that lead to an exit if proceeded a bit further. Then my attention caught Zach who was possibly the most confused component of them all. He was between making the right choice, before him were three doors one leading to a trap with polar bears, another one lead you straight into the poop of poisonous snakes. The third door in the centre was the free of any harm - one that he should have chosen, but he didn't.
Instead Zach reached for his left - trap with deadly cobras. I clenched my fist freezing the doorknob so hard if moved it wouldn't budge. The Prince tugged at the knob for a bit longer but once realising it could not be opened, went for the middle one.
