DOTM Chapter 10 ~Camp Fire~

Autumn's POV

When I heard the word camp fire, I shuddered. Tonight I might finally find out who my godly parent is, and I would have my own cabin.  As I walked out, a finger tapped me on the shoulder. I spun around and Nico stood there, "You-you were quite impressive during the game." he looked down at the floor, "Thanks, you too." I answered back. Someone near the front of the fire was waving to me, it was Leo. I sat down next to him, "Can you really stand it up here? It's burning my eyes." I told him, gazing upon the flicker of the fire, Leo chuckled. "Dude, I'm immune to fire, I love it up here." I nodded my head, "But to correct you, I'm not a dude." he held his hands up, "Well I'm sorry." he exaggerated. I looked around and suddenly my nerves took over the relaxation. Soon all the logs around the fire were occupied, Chiron gestured for me to go up to the middle, I obeyed. "Attention." Chiron yelled, the loudness died down and everyone's eyes were on me. "Some of you might already know this new camper from her breath-taking game during capture the flag." some people nodded and the others looked at me curiously, "Her name is Selen Autumn Luna, she's 13 years old and tonight, as the Oracle spoke, she shall be claimed." At the last word,  it felt exactly as during capture the flag, the moon blazed bright and glistened, the wind sped up and zaps of silver formed around me like a hurricane, I glanced at my arm and a silver glove of electricity formed, my outfit was suddenly a light blue dress and to be honest, I felt like Elsa from Frozen and I was afraid someone might start singing Let It Go. "All Hail, Autumn, daughter of Artemis." and before anything could happen, a girl ran next to me. She seemed tall and slim, with frizzy red hair, a slap of freckles across her nose, green eyes and a blue plastic hair brush in her back pocket. Her shirt was a bit over sized and her pants had doodles on them. "Chiron, she's not the daughter of Artemis." she exclaimed impatiently. Chiron turned to look at her, his expression telling her to continue. "Artemis had vowed to remain alone, she's a master huntress." the girl told him. Annabeth stood up in the crowd, "She's only 14, and the goddess made the vow about 20 years ago." then Percy stood up beside her. "Rachel's right, but who else could it have been?" so the girl's name was Rachel. At that exact moment, the fire dissolved and Leo's face was priceless. A figure of a woman shimmered and soon she stood solid, I held my breath, It was her, the woman from earlier. "Selen, why are you here?" I asked as she took a step forward. "All Demi-Gods, have you forgotten the original goddess of the moon?" she asked in a surprisingly soft tone. Everyone stayed silent, her eyes fixed on me. "I, the goddess of the 1st moon claims Autumn as my daughter." she smiled at my as my jaw dropped."It's a shame you don't have a cabin for me, so I request you put my daughter in cabin 1." "Your highness, Will Zeus allow that?" Chiron asked. Selene took out a blank paper from nowhere and lightning zapped it, instead of it being burnt to ashes, words formed. She handed it Rachel, she read aloud, "I, the Oracle of Delphi presents to you the hand written words of Zeus!" "It's not a special paper, and it wasn't hand written from Zeus." Selene mumbled, 

Autumn is allowed to stay in the Zeus's cabin as my nephew, also don't think this paper is high and mighty, I'm pretty sure Selene picked it up from some random floor.

Selene rolled her eyes while Rachel dropped the paper in disgust and ran to the big house. The campers were laughing like crazy. "Before I leave I want to tell you something." Selene turned around and faced me, "yes mom?" she whispered in my ear "Don't ever join the Hunters" and with that she dissolved in to thin air. There was an awkward silence until Leo set flame to the wood, "Next song!" He grinned and the mischievous smile spread across his face. Piper started singing Burn by Ellie Goulding

I smiled and joined in when the chorus started. I finally was like the others, and my new life would start tomorrow, just like a different person.
