Astrid's P.O.V.
I woke up and dragged myself down stairs to see my parents looking at me expectantly. I nod and they roll their eyes with sighs. "Are you sure?" my mom asks as I make myself some cereal.
"Yep," I pop the "P" tiredly, "It'll tell them my reputation at my old school so they'll stay away from me. Just because it's a new school, it doesn't mean I'll get a new start. He undoubtedly told the most popular person about me already. No point in fighting it." They exchange a glance.
"But, the motorcycle? Isn't that a bit much?" Dad asks.
"Feeling the freedom as the wind hits my face? Heck no, that's not 'a bit much'!" I say before putting my bowl in the dishwasher and going upstairs, Stormfly following. I put on my jeans, black shirt, denim jacket, and boots. I put on my finger-less gloves and put my hair in a tight braid before draping it over my shoulder. To top it all off, I slip on my spiked head band. I grab my helmet from a bed post and sling my bag over my shoulder as I go downstairs.
"Hey!" Miller calls from the living room, "If anyone gives you a hard time, you know what I taught you." I glance to the side in thought.
"Flip 'em off and deliver a 1,000 lbs. box of kick butt to their door step before a round kick to the spot," I say and he shakes his fist as if cheering me on.
"That's my girl," he says and I walk out the door to see my parents standing by my bike.
"Have a great day, sweetie," my mom says, kissing my forehead. I roll my eyes before dad punches my arm softly.
"How did you ever survive in a bar?" I ask jokingly. We laugh before I get on and start it up. I slip my helmet on before flipping the glass mask down and riding down the driveway and onto the road. I glide down the street in the direction of the school. I swerve back and forth on the empty street, leaning into the curves as I tried to flatten myself to the motorcycle to lessen wind resistance. I get onto the highway and stop at a red light, next to a black car. I rolled my shoulders in a stretch before taking off again when the light turns green. I get to the school and walk in before going to the office.
"Can I get my schedule?" I ask the receptionist, who stared at me in confusion. That's when I realize I still had my helmet on. I take it off with a soft laugh. "Sorry, rode my bike and didn't know I still had my helmet on. Can I get my schedule? I'm Astrid Hofferson, new here," I ask again and she smiles.
"Oh, Astrid, it's very nice to meet you! We've been excited for your arrival. Here's your schedule and please have a seat, Hiccup will be here any minute to show you around," She says, handing me a piece of paper. Oh, right, I have to have a guide. I think as I thank her and take the paper before sitting in a chair. Wonder what this Hiccup guy will be like. Probably a popular.
Hiccup's P.O.V.
Finally! I shot out of bed and got dressed quicker than dad when he's late for a meeting. I grab some coffee in a to-go cup and an apple before saying bye to dad and walking out to my car. It was Monday! I drove to school at exactly the speed limit, not wanting to go over it but not wanting to wait much longer. I stop at a red light and a motorcycle pulls to a stop next to my car. The persons face was covered by black glass so I couldn't tell what they looked like but they had a girls body...so yeah. #Creepy. They roll their shoulders, as if stretching, before looking around. They must've seen me staring at them because they take off a millisecond before the light turned green, doing a wheelie across the intersection. Do they know the lights' timing or something?! I get to school and see the same motorcycle in the parking lot. I walk inside and go to the office to see Mystery Girl sitting there as I walked in. She was writing something in a binder and didn't seem to notice my arrival. I look next to her and see the helmet of the person on the motorcycle. She's here!
"Oh, Hiccup!" The receptionist greets me and I nod to her, "Astrid, this is Hiccup Haddock. Hiccup, Astrid Hofferson." That's Astrid?! She finally looks up as she hears her name and her eyes widen as they meet mine. I can't believe I've been talking to her without knowing it! I smirk.
"Well, it looks like I have your real name, 'Savage'," I say, crossing my arms. She smiles sweetly before closing her binder and whacking her head on it. She throws it into her bag as I stare at her in confusion.
"You call me by my name, you die," she warns as she stands up and shakes my hand firmly. She releases my hand and I shake it in slight pain. Damn, this girl's strong. She slings her bag over her shoulder before picking up her helmet and walking towards the door. "Thank you for your help," she says to the receptionist as I follow her out. She walks down the hall, in front of me, looking at the locker numbers. She stops at one and does the combination before opening it. She puts her helmet on the top shelf and hangs her book bag on one of the hooks.
"So you drive a motorcycle?" I ask, trying to start a conversation. Instead of answering with her voice, she taps her helmet's glass mask. She grabs some books before looking at her schedule.
"Where's History?" she asks. I look at her schedule and smile as I see that we're in the same classes.
"What a coincidence, I'm going there myself. Let me get my stuff and we can go together," I say and she groans as I open my locker, next to hers. I can't help but laugh, "You really don't like me do you?!" She rolls her eyes as she slams her locker shut and leans her back against it, waiting for me.
"You're too cheerful," she says.
"Well you're not cheerful enough," I retort.
"I have my reasons!" she snaps.
"So do I. For instance, I like life," I tell her.
"And I hate life!" She tells me, sounding like she was joking but I could tell she was dead serious.
"How come?" I ask and feel her stiffen as I close my locker. She frowns and her eyes dart side to side before looking back at me. She shrugs.
"Didn't expect to need a reason," she jokes and we laugh as we walk to History. She had such a beautiful laugh but as soon as we walked through the History room door, I could tell I wouldn't be hearing much of it. The teacher, Gobber, tells us to take our seats and the only ones left were right next to each other. I smile at her and she groans as we sit down.
"Now, class, we have a new student with us today. Astrid Hofferson, will you please stand up and introduce yourself?" Gobber asks.
