Astrid's P.O.V.

Hiccup and I walked through the trees as our dogs sniffed around. "So, have you ever thought about doing karaoke publicly or singing professionally?" Hiccup asks and I shake my head quickly. "Why not? You're really good when you're not under pressure," he tells me and a small smirk appears on my face.

"So you admit that you were forcing me?" I ask and rubs his neck nervously. "Save it," I tell him with a smile as he stutters nervously. He returns the smile and we continue to walk, the dogs wrestling not for ahead of us. As we draw near, they break apart, run ahead and start again. I can't help but chuckle at their behavior. Soon we reach my house and I invite him in before we go in to be tackled by Whisperwind and Miller. Well, I get tackled.

"ASTRID!" he cried, wrapping his arms around me. "You were gone too long! We've been worried sick!" Miller laughs and I sigh as he slumps on my shoulder a little bit.

"I'll be right back Hiccup. Whisperwind, stay," I order before guiding Miller to the stairs.

"Were're we goin'?" he asks before he trips half way up the stairs. I stumble as I try to take his weight, almost falling backwards. I feel a hand on my back, supporting me up, before I find my balance again and look to the other side of Miller to see Hiccup smiling at me.

"Better be careful, M'Lady," he says with a smirk before he helps Miller up the rest of the stairs. I take half of Millers weight as Hiccup takes the other half and we help him to his room.

"Oh, you two are so cute together, even though I don't know you," Miller says, looking at Hiccup and I roll my eyes.

"We aren't together, Miller. And this is Hiccup, the mayors son, you've met before," I tell him as I try to open his bedroom door. He suddenly jerks from our grasps and kneels in front of Hiccup.

"Sire! I am at your disposal!" he says, as if in Medieval times. Hiccup looks at me uncomfortably.

"Uuuhhh...." he says as I open the door.

"Just go with it," I sigh as I walk towards Miller, in the middle of the hall.

"Um...Arise, Knight, and go with you're...beautiful...sister into your bed cambers!" he says unsurely except for one word. He said 'beautiful' way too certainly. I glare at him as I help Miller to his feet. Hiccup helps me get my brother into his room before I lay him down and play his favorite song, softly, on my phone. I take his phone and stuff it in my pocket before grabbing Hiccups arm and pulling him out, closing the door quietly.

"What was with the 'beautiful' crap?! You need another look at my face?!" I whispered-shout, putting my face into clear view, showing my scars that always reminded me of my past. He smirks as he unexpectantly holds my chin with his hand, making me face him as he examined me.

"Let's see. You have a hole in your ear. You have a scar over your eye, and an X-shaped scar on your forehead. And you have the most beautiful, crystal like, ocean blue eyes, I have ever seen. Would you like me to continue?" he asks as my eyes widen. I pull my chin free and stare at him before rolling my eyes in annoyance and going downstairs. He follows me and sits on the couch as I go to the kitchen.

"You cool with root beer?" I call.

"Sure!" he replies and I come back with two of the sodas. "Well, this is kinda like our own privet party, eh?" he says as I sit next to him. I scoff.

"The basement actually has a room for parties and it's not gonna get any use so it's kinda a waste," I tell him.

"Mind if I see it?" he asks. I stand up and he follows me to the basement. I turn on the lights to the room and his eyes widen. "Wow. There's a freaking bar," he says as his eyes dart around. I chuckle as he walks around, looking at the pool table, foosball table, and air hockey. After he examines them and the arcade games he goes to the bar and jumps over the counter. "Hey, hey, check it out," he says as he rolls up his sleeves and leans a fore arm on the counter, "Do I look like a bartender?" I pause, looking him over before huffing in laughter as he shows his teeth like a rabbit and raises his eye brows sharply.

"Yeah, you totally look like a bartender. Just don't go to work at a real bar," I tell him and he laughs.

"So, you called me Richie when we first met. What does this look like to you?" he asks, gesturing around with his hand.

"The basement of a spoiled girl and her brother," I reply flatly.

"You really don't like this do you?" he asks with a frown. I shake my head as I grab my elbows and lean my shoulder against the wall of the stair case. "Why not? You have a bar/club in your basement!" He exclaims. I look at the ground, feeling like he thought I was crazy or something. "Pull up a stool. What can I get you, M'lady?" I look up as he says that to see him grabbing a drink mixer. I sigh and do as he says.

"I'll take a half and fourth of Root Beer, Strawberry Crush, and Mnt Dew," I say and he stares at me in shock as he pours the correct measurements and shakes the container to mix them.

"You mix sodas?" He asks as he pours it into a chilled beer mug and gives it to me.

"You don't?" I ask as I bring the cup to my lips before chugging half of it. "Try some," I say and slowly slide it towards him. He looks at it curiously before shrugging and taking a drink. He coughs as he puts it down.

"Wow. That's strong. It's gotta kick, doesn't it? It's great!" He wheezes before chugging the rest. I chuckle as he slams the glass down on the counter. After a while, he pulled out some shot glasses and filled them with my drink.

"Okay, we are going to say our worst secrets, one at a time. I say mine, you think it's worst than yours, I'll take a 'shot'. You say yours, and I think it's worse than mine, you'll take a 'shot'. If we both agree mines worse than yours I'll take two. Vis-versa. If we think they're equal, we'll both take a 'shot'," Hiccup says and I nod.

"Sounds like fun," I tell him as leans on the counter, looking thoughtful. I have to choose mine carefully. I knew this was some plan to get me to open up about my past. This guy's too curious for his own good.

After the game

Hiccup had taken 10 shots while I had taken two. The sugar was starting to get to him, I could tell. He was whooping as he spun the people of the Foosball table, rapidly, at imaginary balls. "You know," he says as he sits next to me again, "Considering how mysterious you are I'd think you'd have more secrets." I smile nervously. I had made fake secrets. I couldn't have that much sugar and caffeine, I'd crack without knowing it. Soda, sugar and caffeine have the same affect on me as alcohol has on my parents. Miller never touches the stuff even though he's old enough to.

I shrug, "Ironic, in'nt it?" He huffs in laughter before going to the fridge behind the bar. It was like an Applebee's down here.

After the hang out session

Well, never doing that again. We hung out down there for about 5 hours. Hiccup was now passed out on the couch due to sugar crash. I was in the recliner, checking my e-mail. I open the tab and almost scream, fighting the urge to throw my lap-top across the room. There, in my inbox, was a letter of acceptance from a publisher...
