I knew Jason would be leaving his house soon to head to the rendezvous point for their practice today.  I wanted to see him before all the other team members were around.  Sometime soon I would be telling them the truth about me before they saw it on the news and I lost all my friends.  But until that point, I thought it would be a good idea to fill in Jason on what happened to me.  Not everything will be shared but the gist of my experience will be told.

I heard my dog before I even saw him.  I knew Dima would smell me and coming running.  I got down on my dog's level for fear of being knocked down and causing more damage to my body then was really necessary.

"Dima come back here."  Jason calls as he runs after my dog.  Dima tackles me and starts searching my body for injuries and covering me with kisses.

I wrap my arms around his neck as he lays on top of me.

"Serenity?"  Jason kneels next to us and tries to see me.  Dima covered most of my body since I lost a lot of weight while with HYDRA.  My parents have been trying to put more weight back on me but I haven't been in the mood for food these past couple of days.

"Off, Dima." I command and he moves off of me.  I immediately wrap my arms around Jason's neck.  "I've missed you."  I whisper into his hair as his smell surrounds me.

"What happened to you?" He asks as he hugs me tightly then holds me away at arms length to study my battered body.

"HYDRA captured me and almost killed me from their experiments.  Then the CIA got involved and I wouldn't cooperate so they tortured me."  I explain.  I left out a few details but I didn't want him to feel like any of this was his fault.

"Are you sure that's it?"  His eyes study me and I look away as tears threaten to eat away at my resolve.  I nod before allowing him to envelop me in his arms.  "I know you're not telling me everything but that's okay.  I'm here when you're ready."

He helps me to my feet before taking my hand in his.

"I was worried I wouldn't ever see you again."  I tell him as we walk towards the main road.  I could already see Henry and Luke waiting at the end of his driveway.  They haven't seen me yet so I take this time to relax.

"Are you sure you're okay?"  Luke asks as we finish our run.  I barely managed to keep up with everyone today as we did our usual route.

"I'm still recovering."  I reply as I force oxygen into my lungs.  They weren't used to physical activity any more and I forgot it's been almost two months since I've done anything more than a short walk between two locations.

"Do you want me to call Dad?"  Jason asks as he puts a hand gently on my shoulder.  I wince without thinking about it as he puts pressure on one of my cuts.  My body still isn't recovering like it should but I keep hoping everything will return to normal soon

"Probably a good idea."  Luke leads me onto the grass where I proceed to collapse into it's soft embrace.

Jason's dad came to pick us up several minutes later.  He also gave Luke a ride home while Henry headed into town.  Luke seemed to know something was up but he didn't voice his concerns aloud at first.

"Serenity, are your parents the Winter Soldier and Black Widow?"  He asks since he figured Jason already knew the truth.  I don't respond as I consider my words very carefully.

"Yes."  I finally reply knowing I didn't need to offer too many details.

"And you're a mutant?"  Again I offer the same response knowing less words will get the point across the same.  "Did someone hurt you?"  Concern colored his words as tears started to slip down my cheeks.

"Can Ryan just explain everything?"  I ask Robert, Jason's dad.  "I'm not feeling great."

"Yes.  Luke can you keep this our secret until Serenity's ready?"  Jason asks as he turns to face his friend.

"I wouldn't compromise her safety.  She's like my little sister."  Luke counters before going silent.

"You are healing, just at a normal pace."  Robert assures me as he finishes checking all my stitches.  I had fifty in total and many of them were still painful to the touch.

"I've lost my advanced healing abilities?"  I inquire as I pull my shirt back on gently.  I wince as the fabric touches my raw skin.

"For the time being it seems that way."  He fills a syringe with pain meds before I offer him my forearm.  I was thankful for the pain meds knowing it would help dull both the physical pain and my senses.

"Can we see her?"  Luke and Jason stood in the doorway as I laid down.  My head was spinning as my body allowed the medications to take effect.

"I'm fine really."  I try to assure them but it was useless.  I was feeling horrible as I willed myself to fall asleep.

"You don't look fine."  Luke glances at Jason.  "Can I have a few minutes alone with her?"

"Let me know when I can come in."  Jason seemed unwilling to leave my side but thankfully Dima slipped into the room and took his rightful place on the bed with me.

"I want to ask you something and I don't need a full explanation if you don't feel up to it."  Luke waits for me to nod before continuing.  "Were you planning on telling me the truth?"

"Eventually.  I didn't know how to tell anyone without scaring you away."

"I won't leave you, tsarina."  He takes my hand in his.  "Who hurt you?"

"HYDRA."  I didn't want to explain what the CIA had also done.

"What can I do to help you get better?"

"Give me time.  I know you're like my older brother but I'm not ready to tell you everything yet.  When I do explain, please don't run away."

"I wouldn't dream of it."
