The next day, I got up earlier than usual, dressed sloppily with the wire under my clothes, and turned it on. I wore a gigantic sweater that looked like it belonged to a two hundred pound man at one point and a pair of the skinniest jeans I owned. I wore a few tight bracelets on my right arm and filled the vial with sodium thiopental, and capped it on up. I also loaded my pistol and tucked it in the back of my jeans with the safety on in case things went south. Finally, I did my makeup and facepaint, then slipped my scarf on for extra protection.
I put on a sour face before walking out and to the kitchen. "Need to go to the store. Now." I said and looked at L. He got the message immediately.
"Uh... who do you want to go with you?" He asked.
"Does it look like I give a fuck?" I rolled my eyes and everyone looked pretty taken aback.
"Light, you go with her." L said.
"What? Why?" Light asked.
"Because I don't want her killing anyone." L said.
"She might kill me!" Light hissed.
"Have you ever hurt a child?" I asked.
"No."
"Have you ever hurt an animal?"
"No."
"You ever hurt Misa or any other of your girlfriends?"
"No."
"You ever raped anybody?"
"No."
"Then you're in the clear. Now let's go, I need some fucking tampons before I do start killing off people." I growled, and that made him jump up. Nothing scares men more than periods.
We left for the store and I picked out a small box of tampons and some ibuprofen. I paid and then took Light to a coffee shop. "If I don't get caffeine, I will fucking blow up the street, Light. Don't test me." I growled as we stood in line.
I got myself a caramel coffee and he got a vanilla flavoured one, and thankfully, they put our names on the sides of the cups. After he paid, we took a seat and waited for our names to be called.
"Don't you need to, you know, put one in?" Light coughed.
"I used my last one this morning, so I'm good for another few hours." I said and watched the barista. "You sit, I'll get our drinks." I said and got up before he could protest.
"Thankfully, his came out first, and I poured the sodium thiopental in as I grabbed a holder, then put it on and grabbed my own cup, sealed the vial, and put my own holder on my cup.
"It's go time, L, start recording." I said softly and brought the drinks back to the table and slid him his, making sure it sloshed around a little.
We sat for a few minutes and I drank my coffee, pulling down the top of tge scarf to drink every so often, and watched him drink his. "Well, I feel about ten times better now." I smiled for extra effect. "How ya feeling, Light?" I asked.
"Little tired. Guess the caffeine isn't doing much for me..." he hummed and I watched him blink lazily, and I kept the smile off my face as I brought my mask back up.
"I wanna know your theory on how Kira kills. I mean, I have my own, but I want something different, like an outside opinion, ya know?" I asked and he nodded.
"There's um, this notebook, it's called a Death Note, and uh, you write someone's name in it, and forty seconds later, they die." He said, his words slurring a little, but they were still pretty clear. I only had a few minutes left.
"Really? Sounds a bit out there." I chuckled.
"You can specify the time of death too, but if you don't, it's just a heart attack." He shrugged and drank more coffee. Shit. "You can specify a lot like time, actions, how, who, all that good stuff."
"How do you know this?" I asked.
"I'm Kira. The first Kira. Not the second, that's Misa. God, she's so obsessed with me, makes me sick. But, she does make it easier to get things done. She's a little like a robot, ready to do whatever I want. She'd die for me, even." He looked directly at me. "You don't believe me."
"Can't say I do." I said and he held up a finger before going to his wallet. He pulled out a slip of notebook paper, then called out for a passerby.
"Do you have a pen I could borrow?" He asked and the woman dug in her purse and handed him her pen. "Thanks, can I have your name as well? First and last?" He asked.
"Kirimi Nekozawa." She said slowly and I watched him write it down and some other stuff as well.
"Kirimi... Nekozawa... burns her hand and dies of heart attack." He said and handed her the pen back, sitting back.
She took her time putting it back in her purse, and set her coffee down on our table. Less than a minute later, she went to grab it again to get away from us, missed, made it spill all over her hand and the floor, then screamed, holding her burnt hand, and not five seconds later, clutched her chest and dropped to the floor, unmoving.
"Told you I was... Kira..." Light mumbled before passing out thanks to the anaesthetic I put in his system.
"What. The. Fuck. What the actual fuck. He just... he just killed her. Oh, fuck, L. We got him. We got him." I said, staring in shock.
