Asher's POV
Sunlight filtered in through the slits in the blinds. I cracked open my eyes and had a moment of temporary panic as I didn't know where I was, only for the moment to pass as I remembered the events of yesterday.
I groaned and rolled over, pulling the black comforter over my head. I stayed like that for a solid twenty minutes before my stomach rumbled.
I ventured out from under the warm cocoon that was my bed and made my way to my bathroom.
I blew air into one cheek and sighed at the same time. I would need to get that. And cooking supplies. And clothes. As much as I loved my My Chemical Romance shirt and black skinny jeans, I'm going to need a change of clothes, especially if I was going to Hell-on-Earth.
I walked around my house again, taking note of things I would need. That proved to be too hard for me to remember, so I went by room. In the living room, I would need a key dish, lamp, computer, and printer. In the bathrooms, I would need towels and toiletries. I decided to leave the other bedrooms as they were. I would come back to my room and the kitchen later.
I grabbed my phone, wallet, and key to the house. Just as I was about to leave, I saw another key resting on the counter with a note. Curious, I walked over and inspected the note attached.
Asher,
This is for the car in your driveway. Don't wreck it.
Gavin.
So it was Gavin who designed the house. It made sense. He and I both like this style of architecture and interior design.
I picked up the new key and thought about getting a key ring. I walked out the front door, making sure to lock it behind me. When I turned around, a huge grin lit up my face. It was a black 1967 Chevy Impala. I quickly unlocked the car and got in, carefully shutting the door. I blew out an excited breath and started the engine. I smiled as it hummed to life. I put it in reverse and made my way to Bed Bath & Beyond.
I received many stares as I walked into the store. Maybe it was because of my oil black hair and pale skin. Or because of the MCR shirt and black skinny jeans I was wearing. I pushed a cart around the store, picking up a few towels (black and white to match the rest of the house), a toothbrush holder, soap dish, and bath rug (all white).
When I got over to the kitchen section, I grabbed pots, pans, cookie sheets, a cooling rack, a blender, a sieve, various spoons, forks, knives, and spatulas, and different sized bowls. I made a split-second decision and also got a kettle and a coffee maker.
The guy at the checkout was a pudgy middle-aged man with white hair and a bald spot in the center of his head. He frowned at me with disdain. I glared back at him until he broke eye contact and silently rang up my purchases.
"Your total will be $323.69."
I opened my wallet(black, of course) and pulled out $350. "Keep the change," I said as I pushed the cart out to my car.
I turned on the radio and switched stations until I heard the opening notes of one of my favorite songs.
"What a beautiful wedding!" I yelled as I sang along. "'What a beautiful wedding,' said a bridesmaid to a waiter, 'Yes but what a shame, what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a VERY LOVELY LADY!!" I shouted at the same time Brendon said "whore".
"I'D CHIME IN WITH A HAVEN'T YOU PEOPLE EVER HEARD OF CLOSING A GODDAMN DOOR, NO," I screamed as I exaggerated my movements. I happened to look over at the car next to me. The driver was staring at me as if I grew two heads. I closed my mouth and looked ahead of me, rolling up my window at the same time. I refrained from doing that again for the rest of the way home.
After I put away all the things I bought, I went back out to the car and hopped in the driver's seat again, but to go get some clothes this time.
Where do kids go to buy clothes? I groaned as I thought of the answer. Of course.
The mall.
I pulled into the parking garage and got out of the car. A group of girls walked past and eyed not only me but my car. I maintained eye contact with the tall blonde until she and her friends piled into a red Mustang convertible. The blonde flirtatiously flipped her hair over her shoulder and waved. Then she drove away.
I rolled my eyes and walked around the mall, looking at various stores but not going in. I wouldn't be caught dead in any of these, I thought. Just as I was about to leave the mall and order everything online, a store, unlike all the others, caught my eye.
"Hi, welcome to Hot Topic," a girl greeted as I walked in. She was about the age I had to act like I was and had short brown hair that she dyed parts of purple. Blue eyes framed by winged eyeliner stared at me. I nodded once at her and was about to walk to the back of the store when she said, "I like your earrings, by the way."
"Thanks. I like your hair."
The girl smiled and went back to restocking the shelves. I glanced at her nametag before getting the shirts I wanted.
Brie, I thought. I wonder if she goes to school I'm going to. If she does, I reasoned as I paid for my newly acquired black T-shirts,
Does she know the kid I'm looking for?
