It was Tuesday.
Winnie was taking the news fairly well. To be honest, I expected him to be more upset with me. I had lied to him, after all. But he continued to talk with me like nothing had changed. I was grateful for that at least, I could focus on getting rid of my wings without having to worry about Winnie.
I wondered briefly if Winnie was at school today. I frowned. I need to get my thoughts under control.
Unfortunately, my thoughts were interrupted by a hand placing itself on my desk. I looked up and glared in annoyance. "Fuck off, Marcus."
Marcus smirked and ignored me. He sat on the edge of my desk and looked at his fingernails. "You know, Asher, there are a lot of rumors about you."
I narrowed my eyes and crossed my arms. "Yeah, so what?"
"It would be a shame if a new one came along and ruined your reputation."
"Reputation?" I asked as I raised my eyebrow. "What the fuck are you on?"
Tyler walked over and started to speak. "You know, your whole 'don't talk to me, don't look at me, I don't care' kind of deal. Wouldn't it be a shame if someone said that you actually had a heart somewhere in your chest?"
Really? That was their blackmail? A rumor? About me caring about Winnie?
That's actually really sad. But what did I expect? They're too stupid to come up with a better way to get what they want.
I laughed. "Wow, that was so perfectly timed it's like you almost rehearsed this. Tell me," I said as I leaned in closer, "have either of you been in a hospital for a prolonged period?" When they didn't answer, I continued. "Would you like to be? No? Then get the fuck away from me."
Neither of them moved. I glared at the two of them before slowly getting up from my seat. I straightened up to my full height and sneered at Tweedledee and Tweedledum. "I suggest you move before I do―and trust me, you won't like it if I move."
Marcus and Tyler straightened up to their puny heights of 6'2" and 6'1" and glared right back, though it didn't work. I could smell the fear radiating off of them. I felt the corner of my lip tug up in another half-smile before I sat back down.
"You're not going to fight me. You're terrified of me. If there wasn't a crowd, I bet you both would have pissed yourselves and ran away."
They both were about to reply when the teacher walked in and started to speak. Marcus and Tyler glared at me before they made their way to their seats. I glared right back and looked down at my desk. I groaned quietly and closed my eyes, placing my head on my desk.
I can't wait for this day to end.

"After school. Trail Winnie and give him a beating. That'll teach Ash not to fuck with us."
I smacked my head against David's and let him fall to the floor in a pile next to his friends. He and two other guys tried to talk to me the same way Marcus and Tyler did. I wasn't having it. In my defense, I tried to tell them that, but then I noticed a note in David's hand. When I asked him what it was, he flipped me off and told me to go fuck myself. I lost it after that.
I crumpled the piece of paper in my hand and stepped on the red-haired guy (Mike, I think it was?) and smiled as he let out a groan. I began to stroll down the empty hallway, whistling a tune as I went. I should have been in science, but I guess Winnie was safe if they were planning to jump him after school. I walked out and waited until school was over.
